Not familiar with that paticular round. But as for cheap ammo, I'd be happy to find cheap jacketed bullets. Just a couple years ago I could get surplus ammo for less than what jacketed bullets cost now. Primers haven't gone up excessively and I have a good supply of powders, cases, and hunting bullets, but cheap jacketed .223 and .308 bullets are hard to find.

.308/7.62x51 is getting harder to find in mil-surplus form. Its no longer allowed to be imported so if you find some South African or other surplus .308 ammo get it.Prices are only going to rise as the supply gets more scarce.

Do not get the 90's vintage Indian ammo - it may cause your gun to go KABOOM!
The brass has uneven walls and many misfires. I understand the 70's vintage Indian stuff is a tad higher quality but not by much. Next cheapest and lowest on the market is probably the Pakistani supply. Slightly better than the Indian stuff and less chance of the KABOOM. HTH

They have a good price on 7.62 x 39 ammo.. 150 bucks for the case plus like 18 bucks shipping, but it's odd brands I haven't shot before like Tiger and Bear ammo.. Russian made maybe? I'm skeptical about it since all I've put through my AK has been Wolf. |

All I've been able to find in .308 is the Pakistan stuff for 229.00 a thousand at Wideners and the 1970's Indian stuff at J&G sales for 111.00 for 400 rounds. I know most folks here turn their noses up at Wolf ammo but Wideners has a good supply of .223 and 7.62x39 as cheap as anyone. The .223 is actually cheaper than anyone else I've found. |

Hell I've run wolf .223 out of my AR15 in competition(3 gun, so accuracy isn't nearly as important as in high power), it's not super accurate and pretty sooty but works fine. Don't let the barrel get super hot and then leave a round sitting in the chamber and you'll be fine.
The powder also appears to be pretty temperature sensitive so don't leave your magazines or ammo laying out in the sun in the summer. Last edited by TheRedHorseman; 01-16-2007 at 09:41 AM. |

That wolf ammo is junk. Most of it i shot just sucked horribly.
Although. For that cheap i might still buy it becuase bump firing gets expensive with the good ammo. Army surplus. |

I've had nothing but good experience with it in my AK , other than being steel cased and dirty , it cycles the fucker everytime with no misfires/duds. Put a few hundred through one of my AR's also without problems. Just curious as to what problems you've had. |

I have fired THOUSANDS of rounds of wolf steel cased ammo with no problems at all. no weak primers, no duds, no squibs, nothing. The only thing that makes a mess is the red primer "paint/sealer" that gets all over the inside of the weapon. whooopty do. Hell I have a target at my house of a 2in group @ 200yards of wolf FMJ fired from a AMD-65 I have no clue what happened that day

Nope , didnt know that. I threw that in there b/c a steel case is usually a sign of cheap ammo , which is true in this case , but I havent had a problem with it even though its cheap and dirty.

Steel cases are the proper case for any 7.62x39, that is why it has such a severe case taper, to make extraction easy. Most 7.62x39 ammo is fairly dirty, but it works just fine especially in an AK.

Check out the ammo forum over at ar15.com. Lots of people lookin' to "unload" ammo. 7.62 battle packs going for $65 + shipping. Been a while since I bought ammo so I don't know if this is a good deal or not.
