My new CCW

It has been to the S&W custom shop to have the trigger springs changed for a lighter pull.

I wanted to try them and I got an excellent deal so the laser grips only cost $70 more than regular grips. If I don't like them I can ebay them for a couple hun and put regular grips on.

So far the laser grips seem to be a very good training aid, btw. I am not sure there is an advantage in actual shooting.

I shot a box of ammo through it today. It is pretty accurate for its size using the sights

The laser slowed me down and really reduced my accuracy. Don't tell the people on ebay, the lasergrips are going for $200 there.

Those Crimson Trace grips are the shit. Especially on a CCW, not mention on that small of a pistol. You only have a few inches between the sights, and they aren't the best sites for quick acquisition of your target in a high stress situation. At least with the laser you could damn near fire from the hip.

Yeah, on a small gun like that it's only usable in a situation between like 3-5 yards anyway, and in the dark it would make it super easy to acquire.

No, they are crap. They are typically purchased by those who don't train with their CCW piece and think that they'll somehow be able to find a tiny dot that could be pointing damn near anywhere under stress.

At that short of a range you should be able to point shoot, which will be far faster than looking for your stupid dot.

This does bring up a good question...

If said bad guy sees a red dot scanning around is going to think again about sticking around?

Also, if it does, a fawking cheapo laser pointer might be a good addition to a home defense situation.

Should be some interesting responses anyways.

never thought of it that way but I agree. With those short barrled guns, a small bit of misalignment will throw off your point of impact, and when you need the gun you don't want to be looking for the laser dot. I have one on my airsoft gun and noticed this type of thing, of course my guns not that accurate anyways....

I shot it at ranges up to 30 yards and the laser was a hindrance at all ranges.

*However* for at home dry fire drills it is great to see if you are staying on target and it is good for testing your "point" shooting. Either way, they are going on ebay and I will use the money for ammo to practice with.
