I hope Springfield XD .45s do not suck
Because I picked one up at the gunshow today
The fuckers had no good ammo prices, no AR lowers(besides some crap ones and an overpriced built lower), a FAL the dude would not go lower on price because it was on "consignment" , and some overpriced Kimbers. But I got the XD for $500.

I like the older Glock grips but they did not have a light rail.Oh and the same craptastic front factory sight that all Glocks come with. Oh and I get a spare mag, loader, holster and a grip safety

Grip safeties are gay anyway.
Yeah Glock stock sights suck, except for the factory night sight which are good to go. And you can dremel the finger grooves off if you want, then texture the grip with some marinetex epoxy if you desire, come on it's right up your alley! |

And there is nothing wrong with a grip safety, I don't mind safeties when they don't interfere with shooting. I already own a Sigma with a "Glock" safety and have fired glocks and I have no problem with those either.Oh and the side is cut dovetail front and rear so no special tools needed for sight change either

Know how to change Glock sights?(with trijicons or mepros, factory night sights require staking which can be done with or without the $20 factory tool, I did mine without the tool)
1. grab pliers. 2. firmly grasp slide, or lock slide in vise. 3. smartly rip POS stock sights out of slide using pliers from step 1 4. using supplied delrin puch, drift rear sight into place 5. using supplied tool and thread locker, coat threads of bolt and screw front sight into place. Dovetails can be a bitch without a sight pusher on either one though. Anyway my beef with the XD is not that it's a bad pistol, mostly that it's just how they were considered marginal when Intrac imported them as the HS2000. Then Springfield inc. gets ahold of the import rights, slaps the word "x-treme!!!11!one!" on the slide, whips up a flashy marketing campaign, and suddenly they are wonderful at double the price even though at first they did nothing different except the markings on the pistol. They have improved the original terrible finish and changed the extractor to a more durable design though. Last edited by TheRedHorseman; 02-11-2007 at 10:32 AM. |

Damn...I guess regional pricing does have an effect on everything....pistols included. At yesterdays gun show, everyone was asking $550 for a base XD 40 and 45. If it had the green body or ports was a bi-tone, they were $600 to start. Yet, the local Guns and Ammo had an XD45 (the largest version) with a Kydex(?) holster and spare hi cap for $399.00 if you were paying with cash or debit card. Still, when I bought my XD 40, they ran a special to where could have purchased the "new" at that time XD 45 for $349.00 if I bought it that day. The .45 auto that I can think of with a similar capacity is a Para Ordnance...and a fully loaded Para is a heavy beast. |

They had some brown/green and black ones yesterday and could not move them and finally placed them at a discount.
Sucks because I would have taken one ![]() Oh ya and I like the loaded chamber indicator in the XD. nice, obvious and no press check needed.

Paid $425 for a new one after tax for mine and it came with the holster, clip holster, and the loader helper thingy. I love mine shoots very well and have had no problems out of it. Recoil is about the same as my xd-9. would definatly recommend it to anyone.

I like the xds over the glock anyday, the glocks just grip like shit, theyre big and fat and have a funny feel to them. at least in my hands.
The xds are still big and fat but not near as much, and it feels more proper And im diggin the grip safety too. Glocks are great, but xds are better , in my opinion of course.

The XD is a great gun, especially newer ones without the finish problems. I shot an XD40 back to back with my G32 and they both shot great.

I've got the compact 45. I like it but damn the mag springs were/are tooooo tight. It was a bitch getting the last round into the mag. I broke them down, lubed them up, then left them loaded for a bit to break them in. If that doesn't work, I may play with cutting down one of the springs a bit to see if it still load all of the rounds.
I've shot nothing but reloads built for the indoor range. I haven't tried any hollow point man killers yet. I only have a few hundered through it so far. |

Having owned both, I much prefer the XD. It fits my big paw much better than the Glock. Very nice weapon.

I hate glocks, the grip angle suck when you're used to shooting 1911's.
