Robinson XCR

Anyone have one? Likes or dis-likes?

They make a couple different CA compliant ones and thought about picking one up in 5.56 with the heavy barrel. Anything else I should look at? This will be my first evil black rifle. It will be used for plinking/home defense etc...

Thanks

I don't care which one you buy, just who you buy from

From what I've read, people like the XCR better than the sig. Anyone want to dispute this?

Pete, you will have a PM shortly.

I have shot a 556. but not the XCR so I guess I am biased. I was really impressed with the Sig. Very accurate, (hitting the 430 dong open sight consistantly) and operated flawlessly. We were even shooting crappy Wolf black box that day, which none of my AR will shoot very good, and it never missed a beat.

Here's what I found when I was searching.....

Good: adjustable gas system, nothing in the stock for recoil so you can swap to anything, ergonomic and well placed selector, FAL style break down and cleaning, built in steel rail on the upper, uses AR mags

Bad: overpriced for a weapon with no included iron sights, all that fucking money spent and a RIGHT SIDE charging handle?? what the fuck? ya the handle is removable and you could easily make a vertical but why the fuck not do a left side charge? oh and the charging handle is too short and you smack your hands on optics. Trigger guard/grip gap that pinches (they said they fixed that) rubber "skirts" on the charging slot, come awn give me a fucking break. just use a metal sliding one or none at all.

I think I will wait till they offer it in a 308.

But they did bring a new system the insides of a polymer pistol is the "receiver" and clicks into an assortment of plastic "frames" so you buy one "gun" and then can get just about any slide, caliber of round and the "frame" will come in "normal, sub compact and compact" and "small, med and large" grip size

My XCR had a few teething issues during breakin (as they warn you they will up until 300 rounds) but now it runs like a top. Cleanup and breakdown is quick and easy, it has the CH on the left side, where it belongs, it has has a quick adjust gas setting now, it has a full length same plane pic rail so you can throw any sites you want on it. I traded out the Vltor folding/collapsible for a C/TR stock from Magpul, but everything else just works. I wanted a Sig 556 when I first saw them at SHOT, and still might pick one up eventually. I'd like to see the SWAT model they were promising that comes with a 4 rail B&T handguard though. Either that or old school 551/552 furniture.

I would go with 5.56 due to price as I dont really plan on killing someone and dont need the better ballistics of the 6.8.

Tests have shown that 6.8 is no more effective than 5.56 in zombie head shots.
