So, I finally drank the L/T koolaid.
Got a SPR/E mount for my DMS-1 scope.
![]() Actually it was generic koolaid substitute, there is still no way I'm paying $215 for a mount to hold a $200 scope. This rifle is the "Anti-Bling" zombi boomstick. Enter, the chicom clone SPR/E, for the bargain price of $54. ![]() ![]() ![]() Overall, I'm impressed so far. Fit and finnish is good, everything lines up perfectly, finnish is nice and even. Quick release levers move smoothly and lock up rock solid. I've already removed and reinstalled the mount a few times with no apparent marring of the pic rail on my upper. The lower ring screws have steel inserts, but the top screws thread directly into the aluminum. I'm glad it does not have any LT markings on it, and that douchebag does not get a dime of my money. Best part of the whole deal? It was the LT choadlickers that helped me find out where to get a clone mount at. They posted a thread in the LT industry section over at arf complaining about all the clones and were nice enough to include links to the sites selling them. Made it easy since I was having trouble finding a clone. If it shits the bed, then oh well, its only $50, and I still have my previous setup to fall back on, but I don't think thats going to be an issue as I dont plan on chopping down a tree with my scope. I picked up a clone Troy flip up BUIS while I was at it. Feels like a solid lil unit, fits perfectly, locks nicely, good finnish, and $30 instead of $114. For a beater bargain bin rifle this stuff should work perfectly, after all, its a range plinker, I'm not tacticool enough to get a security job at the mall. I'll update after I get time to sight everything in at the range in about 3 weeks or so.

Lets see if I can post this as a pic. Guess not. Here's a link instead.
http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct...p?prodid=10258 www.uncompany.com Surf around a bit, they have a metric assload of different sights and mounts. Its all airsoft stuff. Would I buy a red dot or scope from em? Not a chance. Hard parts like sights and scope mounts? Well, hell yea. Shipping may kill the deal if you are only getting one part. Shipping for the sight and mount was $30, but it got from Hong Kong to Missouri in 4 days.

Yea yea yea, that was the only thing I was dissapointed about when I got this thing. For only paying $570 for the complete brand new rifle I cant complain too much. No biggie, maybe somewhere down the line I'll duracoat it. Making this bitch look good is WAY down on the priority list. Taint no show piece.

Is it just me, or does
http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct...p?prodid=23077 look like it could be readily assembled into the real thing (albeit with whatever weirdo pistol grip the airsoft guys use) ?? I was going to post up a silly sarcastic arfcom-esque comment about the two different colors on the OP's upper and lower being insufficiently tacticool to allow the installation of LT mounts, but Doc beat me to it.

punch "mount" into the search box on the top left of the page and start scrolling. part# for the mount is KA-SM-19. You can use that # in the search as well.

Damn they have a lot of nice stuff.
I have a couple DPS and some zoom dots on the way for the gun show. I will have to keep these mounts in mind for the future.

"My finger is my safety" "I dont trust mechanical safeties" "I store it with the hammer up" blah blah blah Not to be a total dick head, but unless you leave the weapon laying on the floor all the time for storage, then at some point in time you picked the weapon up and moved it to take the photo. I don't care if its my weapon that I store in my own safe or not its a habit to always check to ensure a firearm is clear when ever I handle it. On the AR that means pulling the bolt back, looking into the chamber and putting the weapon on safe. I know that EVERY weapon in the shop safe is clear, but I do this anyway. Maybe its too anal, but a habit is a habit and if you always do this with your own stuff, then you will do it with every weapon you touch. I can't remember the number of times over the years I had someone tell me it's clear, when it's not. Always treat a weapon as if its loaded to me means its on safe if I am handling it.

, but couldn't find it so you must be serious.![]() As you well know, you can not engage the safety on an AR unless it is cocked. My rifle as it was staged for that picture is hammer down on an empty chamber (can not apply safety that way) with an empty magazine inserted. Sorry but I dont keep a loaded rifle in my living room. I take firearm safety very seriously, I have two cats in the house and can not afford to have one of them think a firearm is a toy and take out either myself, my wife, or each other, it would be tragic.

1. Remove rifle from safe 2. Lock bolt to rear and check chamber 3. Pull charging handle to rear to facilitate removal of YHM extended rail 4. Release bolt on verified empty chamber 5. Point rifle in safe direction 6. Drop hammer on verified empty chamber 7. Install new scope mount 8. Insert empty magazine for pictures 9. Take pictures 10. Remove empty magazine 11. Replace rifle in safe and clean up mess AT NO TIME WAS AMMUNITION OF ANY KIND WITHIN 15' OF THIS ENTIRE PROCESS. All firearms are cleared and magazines unloaded before I leave the range, no magazines are ever loaded in my residence, no ammunition is ever in close proximity to any firearm while in my residence. The staged picture was SAFE even though the selector does not say it was.

With the scope on 1x, the front sight is in the lower 1/3 of the picture, but at 1x it really doesn't matter. Turn the illumination on, and with a good cheek weld you use it like a red dot sight, both eyes open and you dont even notice the front sight. At 1.5x - 4x because of the reduced field of view you don't even see the front sight. With my last setup which was .2" higher, the front sight was below the lower 1/3 of the sight picture on 1x.
