saiga conversion problem
a few weeks ago I converted my saiga .223 using a tromix modified tapco FCG. When I finished it would fire, cycle a new round into the chamber, but will not fire when I pull the trigger. I'm still a newb at AKs, so I'm lost as to what might be causing this. Any ideas?

I will bet money its not catching the hammer to the disconector. Will it cycle by hand? Like if you pull it all the way back and let the bolt go it goes "click" and if you do the same again it will keep working?
Are you running a buffer? BTW how is it "modified" by tromix?

![]() His shit is done well and non-building fuckers are kicking his door down to get shit built. But in truth when you install a Tapco FCG in one and keep the bolt hold open you have to remove like 1/8" from both sides and then countersink the left side hole with a large drill bit. its highly technical

it will cycle by hand and fire, once. After its been fired once, it does not click, so I'm pretty sure the hammer is not catching. I'm still a newb to AKs, so what do you mean by a buffer? As for how tromix mods the trigger, I think some material is removed and you get a few more parts. Quite honestly, the only reason I ordered it was it was convienent since I was allready ordering parts from one place and didn't feel like placing a second order with someone else just to save 10 bucks which would have probably been eaten up by shipping. |

Google search Hammer Follow. That is your problem. Your disconnector is not grabbing the hammer when the trigger is pulled. This means the hammer is located too far forward in the receiver, OR, the trigger is located too far back.
The best method is to weld up the holes and start again, using an actual AK receiver as a template. Or try a different disconnector. Or put a small bevel on the edge of the hammer, in the hopes that the disco can grab it a bit better.

I just put a bead of weld on the underside of the bolt carrier and smooth it. works every time.
