dumb ak question

So I got that WASR (previous post). Now how do I remove all of the furniture without destroying it? I want to refinish this cheap wood that came on it.

Not sure if a WASR is the same as other AK's and I am going off memory, so here goes:

1. Remove dust cover.
2. Remove spring/piston/bolt/etc.
3. You will see a screw near the butstock under the dustcover.
4. Wiggle upper handguard free in an upward direction.
5. Under where the upper handguard just was there is a "flippy thing". Flip "flippy-thing" up.
6. Remove lower hanguard assembly.

Hope this helps.

I've heard Minwax Sedona Red is VERY close to Russian Red and is easy to apply.

HA. Yeah she's already questioning why I'm in the garage taking apart my new rifle when I haven't even fired it.

Red mahogany looks good. I used it on my M70, M72, and a romy G.

Up close of the Yugo M72 stock.

I may try to go with something a bit lighter on my next wood stock sets... but overall, I'm happy with how these turned out.
