School me on full auto, I have created a monster.
I have turned a good friend into a bonafide gun nut.
My buddy calls me out of the blue and says he has bought a handgun, he is the last person I would have expected this from and I tell him his new 9mm glock is a great pice for wemmens and pussys. He calls back to see if I approve of his new Springfield 1911 and now he has a bucket full of handguns. His latest is a SW .500 and he has just finished his CWP. Well, We go to the range and rent the rock and roll MP5 and burn through 600 rounds of ammo at full auto and he can't talk about anything else. He has to have one. This is a level of gun purchace that is beyound me. What really is involved? Who is a reputable dealer and how do you know what is a good price? The interweb sites I have searched seem to have prices across the board. And finally, short of a belt fed weapon, what would YOU buy? He really likes the Sub Stuff but would say a M16 be a better bang for the buck? In summary, My buddy has gobs of cash. He wants a Full Auto. Help?

1) gather 18-20 grand in cash
2) find Mp5 for sale 3) then worry about how to get one

They run about $17k for the cheapest ones I have seen. These websites should help:

Besdies the gobs of cash to acquire one, then it takes gobs of cash to feed one...
We shoot 45, 9 mm, 380acp, 223, and some russian cartridge all in FA. We have a very private area that we use to avoid "disturbing the uninformed". I reload for the 45 and the 223. My FAVORITE is the M16... BUT a tricked out Mac 10 type in 45 or 9MM converted to slow fire is a lot cheaper and even cheaper to shoot. SLOW FIRE is SO DAMN FUN! ![]() Do not know where your buddy lives, but I can put him intouch with some Class 3 dealers that I know localy in Western NC. Then all he has to do is get his paper work done if he is in a FA friendly state and county. BEST is a FA sub gun with a Silencer. Then you can play very descreetely

That.
If you could go down to the local gunshop and buy a FA rifle new in the box today, it'd cost maybe $50-100 more than a semi-only one (there's a bit more machine work, and a few more parts, depending on which rifle we're talking about) to actually buy. Just like buying a mint '68 Camaro... there aren't any more '68 Camaros being made. |

Amanda,
Basically the reason they are is so expensive is the Laws revolving around civilian ownership of FA toys. ANYthing FA made after 1986 is only legal for millitary or law enforcement and NOT civies. So basically, all the FA toys available for civies HAD to be registered befor 1986. Their are only a certain quanitity and their will never be anymore

So law enforcement does not pay these ridiculous prices correct? And you still have to get signed off from the sheriff to buy these weapons? ________ LadyM Last edited by comeonstart; 08-24-2011 at 01:02 AM. |

PM me about what you are looking for. I live in Western NC. You can buy from pretty much any class 3 dealers or even individuals but you must have all your FFL stuff approved. I am going out of town for the weekend( taking toys
)I will do my homework on SC laws and put you in touch with a class 3 dealer. Here in NC, we have to have our Sherrif sign off and he is Class 3 friendly. What county in SC?

You as a civilian have to get a signoff from your cheif LEO, which as I understand, means your chief of police if you live in an incorporated city, or your sherriff if you live outside of city limits. The trust workaround seems pretty common (living trusts don't have to get signoffs) but that's a whole separate discussion. And you as a civilian (or under a trust) have to pay the transfer tax as well. |

Converting a formerly semi-auto gun to full-auto would probably have to be done by an FFL07/SOT, and would be considered "manufacturing" a new gun, even if it's on an old serial number. Even if it could legally be done by LE/MIL, it'd require ATF registration (but not tax) as a machine gun, and once done, can't (that I know of) be "undone" in order to dispose of the weapon into the civilian market.
