Remington 700 VS .308 short action, in the factory H-S Precision stock, black with the grey spider web. Full length aluminum bedding block. No palm swells. Excellent condition. NICE factory old style trigger, no J-lock. Stock except for barrel being cut to 23.5" and recrowned. Fired less than 20 rounds according to former owner, and sure looks it. No test target as I have not shot it. This was going to be a donor action for a build for me, but I just bought a finished action instead.
Really clean example of a VS that is no longer made. Will ship in a new Remington Box, to your FFL. will throw in leupold rings and solid base

I would do a little bargaining on the fact that the barrel has been cut, who knows how good of a job was done on the crown.

Depends on the type of shooting you plan on doing.

But I would personally go with the FAL. It's sexier. It's less common. It's more likely to be subject to the whims of politics. It can do everything the 700 can for a good percentage of shooters. It's more fun to build.

Just my 2 cents.

Just like with AKs or other imported parts kits, you gotta replace those e-ville foreign parts with USA components. Aloha may have some parts...but Falfiles or GunPartsGuy should have plenty as well.

Since you're trying to avoid impulse buys: whatever you do, don't check with Falcon Arms for an FAL paratrooper lower with compliance parts and such.

US made forearm, pistol grip, and buttstock will count as 3 compliance parts.

Its all SA except for a winchester bolt. I really dont know anything about garands.
