Bachelor Party shooting game ideas & other fukery
OSR, help us out to achieve optimal stupidity and mayhem. We're having a bachelor party for a buddy up at a rural cabin (where we always bring our shooters) and are trying to think of games to play. This is a very competitive bunch. We have the obligatory thrower and will bring the shot guns and such, we also have a decent range setup. I just cant think of any clever and more lively competitions other than "closest to the bull" or counting clays...
The only one I came up with so far is... bunch of the guys are into golf too. We're gunna bring a huge box of range balls and I thought of teams, long drive contest. Drive counts even when the other team is shooting at the ball. Exploding targets? Gimme some ideas boys...

check out the targetz website. THey have a bunch of targets that are game targets. Poker/billiards and such.
http://targetz.com/fun01.htm THe billiards ones are fun, so are the dartboard ones. a .22 at 50 yrds makes the dart ones interesting. Play all the regular dartboard games. Last edited by 87manche; 01-29-2010 at 12:56 PM. Reason: added link |

Get a couple decks of cards and you could play target poker or blackjack: 10ft 2x2 and staple the cards to the board so that you can't see them. Have __ number of shots and either the best hand wins or the closest to 21 wins. Another version: play cards at a table if you want to exchange cards for poker or get hits for blackjack then you have to shoot the cards.
I don't know how you would make it into a competition but i have hit range balls and then play shoot them where they lay with rifles. See who can hit the smallest target: shot shell, pistol case, .22 case. Either place bets on number of shots it takes or winner gets ____. Assuming you are out in the middle of nowhere, if you make a decent bonfire you can take baloons and throw them in the hot air over the fire and they will float up. Pretty decent fire will get them up 20 or so feet and they will be bobbing around and you shoot them from ___ far away. Don't know if this is the kind of thing you are looking for but it has amused me and friends before. |

Most everything I do is 1 shot offhand rifle stuff (makes it harder) at vous and ML shoots .
1. Suspend 1x12" strips of thin Aluminum an let the breeze spin them (50 yds) 2. Feather buster, objective is to break a turkey feather in 1/2 thats poked into a log (25 yds) 3. Egg buster, suspend raw eggs and pop them (50 or 100 yds) 4. Lollypop shoot multiple lollypops extending out of a 2x2 (50 yds). 5. Card split, set a card on edge (sight curve to the card in the) with skinny edge to the shooter and split it (15 ft). Only know a couple folks that can do this... 6. Stump shoot. Draw an X on an 8x10 paper with a wide sharpie, shoot prone over a stump thats not at the proper height for anyone to shoot comfortably or be stable doing. Closest single shot to creating a spider (center of the x) wins. (60 yds) This happens to be a National comp event... Know of a few others but theyre not really for smokeless or jacketed rounds like the double bit axe and hit 2 gongs by splitting the ball in 1/2 on the axe blade (25 ft), easier than it sounds... ![]() D.

Quick draw match. Find two steel plates about 8" diameter, mount em on a 2x4, and paint em white. Stick them out about 15 yards, no closer than 10yd for splatter safety. Painted, you'll see the hits.
Yell GO, and the first one to ring the plate from the holster wins. If your friends will shoot themselves drawing, start low-ready with the weapon in both hands.

A kinda fun one a buddy and I play: Set up two vertical rows of 4-5 clay pidgones about three feet apart. In the middle between the top two clays place an aditional clay target. Two shooters start at the top and shoot down thier row, then the first to shoot the middle target wins. To make it a little more difficult, you must single load the gun. We use bolt guns firing from prone at 100 yards.

Or do it closer, and use balloons and pistols. That one can be fun. A sheet of cardboard with some slots cut in it will hold a balloon nicely from the knot. Three or four side by side for each shooter... and you race.

. . . and in the middle add a couple of steel poppers turned at a slight angle toward each other (or away from each other depending how you look at it) so that when they fall, the one that falls second overlaps the first. That way there is no argument about who finished first.

It's fun to fill 5 or 6 at a time, blast with the 20g first, then switch to the 12g once they're farther than the 20 will reach. |
