5.45x39 ar barrel.

I see that M1Sales sells just the barrels. But they are not chrome lined. And kinda pricey. Anyone else?
I have enough bits and pieces I just need a bbl and a bolt

5.45 uppers are not cheep, 550-650 range is what I am seeing.
Since I have everything except barrel and bolt I would rather just do that. But from M1S at least it looks like 320ish for the pair./

I got lucky last year and found an upper with a spikes complete lower on Gunbroker for about $750. So I sold the lower for $275 and now I have invested $475 in the complete 5.45 x 39 upper.

I think it is a S&W upper, is there any way for me to find out for sure.

Also Olyarms list a rifle with a 16" SS barrel in 5.45x39. Maybe they will sell just the barrel and bolt...

old post but i did a search before i created a new post. i got my S & W upper in 5.45 x 39 in Fayetteville, NC for $399. it was brand new never fired. i put it on a built Roggio Arms lower. it shoots grea and you cant beat the price of the ammo. i have found sardine cans of 1080 rds as cheap as $139. everytime i find a can under $150 i buy it. i imagine the rounds will eventually go the way of 5.56 and get expensive. great plinking round. it will penetrate and shoot thru 1/4" steel i-beams. havent shot a deer with it yet or anything living for that matter so i cannot describe its game taking ability. plan on getting a .458 SOCOM for deer hunting anyways.

What else would you really need that is different from the 5.56? I have alway heard that you have to have a stronger hammer spring?? Looks like they have the bolt assembly for $75. So the bolt and barrell are pretty much all you would have to have that isn't interchangable right?

5.45 looks like a cool caliber to have on hand, just for plinking.

edit: looks like you can buy the whole upper for about $400 on M1sales

I bought it at Jim's Gun on Yadkin Road. It was brand new and still in the box. I am not sure if they have anymore.
