Shooting tracers out of a nice rifle

I have a nice, really accurate rem. 700 in .308. I have some .308 tracers that I was planning to take with me this weekend, but I was wondering if they will mess up the bbl in any way? Way say ye?? Bad idea?

it's probably fine as i don't think they ignite until they are a ways down range BUT, i still wouldn't shoot them out of one of my precision rifles.

now shooting tracers out of my 5.56 ar is a totally different story, iffin i was in a different state away from a high fire danger area

shouldn't hurt anything in the barrel since the actual part that burns is on the base of the bullet, not on the jacket and only ignites right after it exits the barrel. if you have a "subdued" tracer, it'll ignite after it exits, but wont burn full brightness till a hundred yards or so out of the barrel.

Over the years I have shot thousands of tracers out of my M1 Garand, M1A, M1, M2 Carbins. AR-15 without any problems. I have friends that will shoot 2500 tracers out of there 1919a4s when we go over to Arizona for the weekend to shoot, doesn't hurt there barrels at all.

been a while sinced I fired any tracers.

I think you'd be ok right now with the heavy saturation we got.
We might get Spring in June, hopefully.

Last time I shot tracers I had a crazy guy run in front of my rifle saying "Shoot me, shoot me! I promise I won't die." <- wife caught it on video.

Same price as when I bought my last 1919 barrel back in 2006 or 2007. Good to see they're not going up.


As far as tracers go, I'd shoot them out of anything.

well i didnt get to shoot any, the group i was in wasnt really into guns, so i didnt really get to brake it out.
on another note, bowling pins will take .308 and .300 win mag like a champ, but they burn right up in a fire

surpip, 300, and TRH need to carpool over to Joklahoma in July and bring your tracers and long distance rifles...there will lots of gun guys and you can "brake out" whatever you feel like bringing along.
