It's home!

Brought my '72 vintage M66 home yesterday. After a quick trip to the range I brought it home for cleaning. It shoots SAH-WEEEET! BTW. Love it.

It's a former LEO gun. If it has stories to tell I doubt any of them involve solvent or oil. I'm STILL brushing & soaking & scrubbing. The thing had caked on black crud everywhere. After an overnight Kroil soak & a good scrubbing the bore went from "OK" to "XLNT."
Lockup was "meh" till I scrubbed the cylinder notches, dropped some oil on the bolt & tightened the sideplate screws. Locks up tight now!

Here's the before.

Here's the after. The Target stocks are from a guy on S&W forum and are correct for that model/year.

You need a Ruger to handle Chris' ammo.

And that Smith is already ruined. Somebody done went & drilled a hole in it's side!

if that's the case he's gonna need to reimburse me for a new s&w 686 because he knowingly sold me some hot stuff without a disclaimer pertaining to ruger only

yeah the most horrible thing they ever did to a revolver. you're going to be shooting it one day and the lock will magically engage itself and the revolver will implode

Trust me, all of OSR will be the first to know if it ever involuntarily locks up on me. Obviously a 6" isn't for personal defense so that's no big deal really.

Dunno 'bout that. One of the nightstand guns is a 6" M28-2. If I run out of ammo that N frame will make a handy club.

Ring !!

One of you Rev-Porn addicts was at the range this morning, early.

I mention it because a .460 something or a bob, well over the 6-inch length standard for size, showed up on the bench adjacent to me. The cylinder would "take", envelope an entire 8x57mm Mauser round. A big sum bitch.

Anyway, muzzle break and all, it was rattling the roof of the overhead and actually ringing the coffee can nailed to a structure post like a bell from the vibes.......

So, I had to wait and time my shots or I was literally hopping off the concrete bench.

Dirty dirty porn if you ask me.
