Leaving the Peoples Republic of California
So it looks like I am going to be relocated to either Ohio or Pennsylvania to open up a new office for my company and have a few questions. Some might seem stupid but remember the BS I have to put up with in Cali.
1.When moving out of state do firearms have to be re-registered or any thing along those lines? 2. Are there any restriction in either of these states like in CA: magazine capacity, bullet buttons, other retarded bullshit? 3. What is the process of buying a firearm? 10 day waiting period, first born? Flame away if necessary

1. No.
2. Not that I am aware (I'm next door to both). 3. Pretty sure it is the same as WV. A NICS check and you walk out of the door. However, some cities have a waiting period.

PA should be your first choice. My parents moved up there a few years ago. Brushed up on their rules before I flew up there with a G19 the first time. Pretty sweet.
Pay the money and get your permit, no class, no nothing... then carry a gun into a bar if you want. And go load up on non-neutered magazines and chuck your bullet button crap in the trash. Ohio is much better than CA, but has some retarded restrictions here and there. Either way, enjoy your move to a free state.

Ohioccw.org is also a good resource. the CHL class is made to be passed by anyone of average intelligence that can shoot a gun. If you want to do the CHL class let me know, I'm an hour north of Columbus and got the hookup. There are/were some stupid high capacity magazine bans, but the courts ruled against them a few years back, of course the laws are still on the books in the columbus/toledo/cincinatti area, but it's very unlikely that you'd ever run afoul of them, and if you did they would be thrown out. Those were done by individual cities, so no statewide magazine restrictions. So basically welcome to OH, the economy sucks, the roads are shit and you're gonna love winter, but you get to enjoy guns and not having a fee or tax for everything. Hell, you'll even enjoy the DMV, since it's only $50 to register a car and aside from the metro areas there's no such thing as a smog check. Edit: Regarding purchasing a firearm, even an evil handgun, go to store, pay monies, wait 10 minutes for NICs check, walk out with firearm. If they tried to pass a 10 day waiting period the hillbillies would flip out. FTF sales are also legal with no FFL required.

PA--our roads suck, but who gives a fuck when the gun laws are basically "Don't kill anyone...unless they deserve a good killin'". PA is pretty damn lenient when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. As mentioned above, the PAFOA website is a great resource.

For the Ohio folks, in the Columbus area, where is a good are to live within 30 to 45 minutes outside of the city. I am more partial to living in a more rual area than the city.
I guess this goes the same for PA but in the Harrisburg/York area. Thanks for the help fella

bigdaddylee82 he asked the same questions in advance of a move to columbus. new albany, delaware, lexington, fredericksburg, basically any of the small towns off of I-71 north of Columbus, I'm not to familiar with what's south. I'm an hour north in Ashland mid-ohio is in Lexington, so if you like road course/motorcycle racing that's a cool spot.

PA carry is basically anywhere that is not a gov't building or school. Bars, restaurants, county fair, church--knock yourself out. Drinking or no, PA looks at it as "If it's a clean shoot, it doesn't matter that the shooter had some drinks. If it's a bad shoot, then either sober or not, you're fawked".

From down town columbus I would suggest going south or east as it puts you closer to the SE ohio 4wheeling scene, most everything north and west of columbus is flat.
To stay within the 45 minute drive Id look for places between columbus and zanesville like er, or even newark if you go east To the south anything lancaster or above on the outside of the 270 loop should be fine.

You said bullet button and I said What the Fuck is that. I had to google it. I live in Indiana. Pretty much, if it's a gun, you can own it/carry it in this state, within reason. Also, its not at all difficult to get a Liscense to Carry Handgun, and it comes in PINK!!!
lol
