Introduced three Young'ns to Shooting this weekend.
Went to a ranch in NE New Mexico this weekend.. It is a working cattle ranch..
One of our planned events was to go shooting. Experienced shooters on site: Myself, my wife, My buddy Ron, and his buddy Mac. New Adult shooters: Mac's wife who now wants to get her CHL. And Ron's wife. She grew up a ranchers daughter, so was always around the ranch and guns.. and has shot rifle and shotgun, but never pistol. Worked with the ladies on proper pistol handling, and Ron's wife on the major differences between rifle and pistol. Worked on gross motor movements.. Tap Rack Bang, etc. Targeting, aiming, etc. Both women started off on the .380 and then eventually fell in love with the 9mm. And then the two Young Kids that are first time shooters. My youngest daughter, and Ron's Grandson... Started off with a safety discussion.. the 4 rules of firearm safety, etc... We had originally planned on starting them off with the single shot .22LR cricket "My First Rifle" yes.. the pink one. But I forgot the key to unlock it with. So, we just went with the Walther P22 pistol... loading one shot at a time. My oldest was also in on the action as we moved along. All of the kids watching, learning, and doing wonderfully. Of course, there were the novice pistol (almost) sweeps. Things got corrected and the kids REALLY learned about maintaining downrange presence. This is the boy. We are all doing dry firing at this point, getting the ladies focused on target acquisition, finger and hand placement, etc. ![]() This is my youngest daughter getting ready to start dry firing the .380 after putting probably 50 rounds through the .22LR. Just getting her used to the extra weight of this pistol. Ron's wife in the background doing the same with the .357 revolver after having played with the 9mm for the last hour or so... ![]() All in all it was a great trip and we all had a blast.. literally and figuratively!

Throwdown? Huh? ![]() ![]() In the first pic, the .357 is laying on top of two boxes of ammo... We tried.. but I doubt that 3 men, 3 women, and 4 kids can shoot anywhere near 40,000 rounds.

Took my 7yo shooting yesterday. She's a great shot with her 22lr Rossi single shot with iron sights, and ran a few magazines through my 10/22. With a little help, she also shot my .40S&W.
It's fun to share such a great sport with your kids.
