Shotgun News - What did I just buy?
I have been extremely happy with my subscription to Shooting Times, and recently got a very good deal on a 2 year subscription to Shotgun News. I've never looked at an issue, but figured I'd heard people reference it here and thought what the hell? Well I got my first issue in the mailbox, I am not really sure when, works been running me ragged and I haven't been able to check it in a few weeks. Anyway, it's a few great article and then a bunch of ads. I don't really mind it too much, except it makes me want to buy all this stuff I really don't need. Are there really good deals to be found in those ads? Some of it seems like dudes selling crap out of their garages, others seem to be very legit operations. Any advice on who to pay attention to and who to ignore?

I sent in for a RX and about 7 months later they started sending out the SN to me. I wish I had just kept buying the "treasury's" or whatever they are called, because the one regulars ones are just ads and weird obscure gun history with occasional builds for giggles thrown in. I still look at it, but the meat of the treasury must take a year's worth of SN's.

Don't buy anything FA from the the little print ads in the back, trolls lurk there.

I enjoy it. There is usually an article about some obscure weapon's history, and often an article about a guy making a gun from his parts bin and the scrap pile. The ads are interesting just to keep up on what companies are making, and there are some good surplus ads - just to know what stuff is worth.

They have an armchair commando or two that write for them that annoy the hell out of me. so I only buy them from the news stand if their is an article I really want. Which is pretty rare.
I do pick up the end of year Treasurery as those usually contain the DIY build series of articles.

LOL, thanks for the replies all. I keep looking at the cheap 7.62x39 and thinking about the cheapest way to get a good shooter in that caliber. The ads in the back isn't helping that any. And up until now, I never really knew that I wanted a .303 British, but that is tempting me too. Maybe it's time to look into a C&R, but I think my wife would kill me.

Enfields are very cool.
I still want to get myself a hi-power. Enfield, FAL, Sten, Sterling, and then the Hi-Power. Perfect collection for the Land Rover
