New Range

You always wonder if things stick. This is what was setup on my back porch. It appears that Logan setup a proper rest. The broom he called his "safety line". I was very proud of him.

Yeah, I think so. I was amazed that he set it up with no instruction, and all out of his own interest and knowledge. I think that it's time to introduce the boy to the BB gun.

BB gun and little green army men.

It's the only good use for those stupid minesweeper guys.

I was thinking of starting him out punching paper. I could see him evolving to shooting army men really soon.

That is a great idea.

I can't believe he went so easy on you for stepping in front of his safety line to take the photo.

Good for you and Logan. It's awesome to teach them about gun safety as kids; they grow up with them and don't end up becoming left-leaning gun-fearing adults. They grow up seeing guns as tools--very sexxay, shiny, must-have tools.

Pretty cool. The only thing I would do is get him some safety glasses. These are the ones my kids use

http://www.discountsafetygear.com/pymiztsaglcl.html

We have the clear and the dark ones for sun glasses. They are comfy and can wear them all day.

We use safety equipment when shooting the BB gun. I'm definitely going to pick up some of the mini Zteks. Thanks!

It's open to the public, but bring your own caps.

That's awesome. I love the concentration on his face.

Yep, next the BB gun. Then the Chipmunk single shot .22! I grew up with a 50 yard, 100 yard and 500 yard range from the corner of the back deck. I really miss living on a ranch.

Tony, I already have a little .22 for them, but it may be a little big. I may need to pick up the .22 Cricket if he's going to be shooting .22 cal anytime soon. Lisa is talking about in-town living after we sell our house. I'm not sure that I'll be able to live with that!

edit: I forgot about the sub-sonic .22 shells that I have. That would be a great way to break them into a .22.

Our girls shoot a little Rossi matched pair .22LR/.410. Started at 5 and 7. They're 7 and 9 now....and were shooting my heavy barrel AR this summer.

..and my youngest shot my buddy's 1911 this summer with a little help.

Can't even hear them outside of my garage door shooting with my Winchester mod. 1890 .22 rifle. All you hear is the firing pin action.

Definitely a lot louder going through a revolver or pistol, though...

make sure they use eye protection. i shot a squeeze-it bottle when i was young with a spring actioned BB gun pistol, and it was too weak to peirce it- thus bounced back and tagged me in the fawking neck.
