Chiappa rhino 200 DS

http://gunsgunsguns.net/chiappa-firearms-rhino/

Anybody have one? I've been reading as many reviews as I can find and the consensus seems to be that most people find it butt ugly but the ones that actually shoot it seem really impressed. The barrel is in line with the bottom of the cylinder causing the recoil to push straight back rather than kick up. It's not a radically new idea, but somewhat cheaper than the Mateba autorevolver.

to the top!

Picked up a guns and ammo or some such in te hospital waiting room yesterday. They had this thing in it. It is ugly as sin, but the writer said the muzzle flip is good because of the lower bore axis. My wife wants one for her purse, which works out for me because I'd start carrying her small Taurus.

Anyone played with one yet?

holy price

That'd be sweet in a .22lr though, in all configurations shown.

I've handled one at a gun show. I need one! It's so ugly it's cute! I've read nothing but positive reviews, it really does make sense having the bore lower (other than the mechanics involved). A little pricey, but hey, what isn't these days.

I want the full size, not the little carry one, but none of my vendors have that one yet. The ones I played with at SHOT felt pretty good, but I'm not sure about the price tag.

looks like it would be really tough to handle with that tiny grip on it. if it was shaped more after a 38 snub-nose, then it might be a little better.

I had to giggle at the guy at SHOT. He told us they'd been firing a bunch of hot loads the day before at the shoot for the reporters, "Why, they' even shot some Blazers through it." It was all I could not to laugh in his face. Shoot some BB or some Garret loads and then tell me how it shoots.

Probably still less flip than the same load in a higher bore axis revolver. Good idea, butt ugly.

What's street pricing on this thing? The local gun shop gave me a WTF look when I asked about it. I'm not finding anyplace online that has them in stock with a price.

I know MSRP is sky high, but that's MSRP. The wife wants one. I hate buying a pistol without her shooting it first, but I think she's fallen in love with the ugly.

I like the look of the full size and I too am curious what people have seen as "real" prices.

gunbroker is not real pricing to me, it changes by the instant it seems. I'm not going to pay the inflated prices on there, I'd rather wait than get ripped off.

Gunbroker is often the source of fantastic deals. You did have to dig, though.

I did, and 600 seemed to be a deal, but I'm just not going to buy one until I put it in her hands. That's how we ended up with a pistol she doesn't carry, because it doesn't fit in her purse.

Yes, we've had the conversation about how she shouldn't carry in her purse, but she won't do a holster.

why can't she just go back to the kitchen and do as I say?

it's my understanding they import them.

they're made in Italy. Just means you hope to get one made before they started drinking that day.

Its my understanding that Chiappa is its own firearm company and they manufacture them in Italy. they arent made by anyone else but Chiappa Firearms.

paying 600-700 for that revolver is like people 1200 for a Saiga S12

So I did some looking on these things, I thought one with a 4" barrel would be badass to run in IDPA.... Until I saw the 4" barreled gun only weighs 26 oz! A 4" 686 weighs 42 oz!

Sure the lower bore axis is going to have a big difference on recoil, but the weight of the gun makes a huge difference also. They should make a 4" gun out of steel and not their alloy and have it weigh in right at 42 oz (max weight for Stock Service Revolver in IDPA). That would make for some serious recoil soaking.

I think you'd be a lot happier with a Ruger SP101 in 357. It weighs the same and is a lot prettier.
