scopes
looking for a new scope for my model 70 300 win mag. current one is a leupold vxIII 3.5-10. has some focus issues with it. going back to factory then back on a 30-06. looked at the leupold vxIII 4.5-14 and the bushnell 4200 4-16. any suggestions or opinions. this gun will be used for mid range hunting and shooting. id say under 500 yards.

Hey DO. Surprised that Zeiss is Made in USA. Thats good news. How can you tell unless they advertise it like Leupold/Redfield, or unless you get the product ?? BTW saw a post circa 2009 that some Burris went offshore, no longer made in Colorado.

That is a shame about Burris. I've got one, and it is a very good scope.
The parallax is excellent. You don't lose the cross hairs going from 6x to 18x. Repeatability is excellent, and clarity is very good. The edges of the image are clear and don't fuzz out at higher magnification. The clearest scope I have ever shot was a Zeiss. I would like to own one, but not going to spend that much on a scope yet.

I think Burris has moved most all of its operations to the Philippines.
I know several scopes in the Pentax line (Pioneer, Gameseeker, etc.), also made in the Philippines, look very similar to some Burris scopes. |

have one monarch on a 223. ok but not really impressed. heard a lot of good about the bushnells so thats why i was asking. $300 price difference between the bushnell and the leupold. curious if the leupolds are really worth the extra money? i will spend it if worth it but dont want to if not. i own 4 leupolds now and i am happy with all but one.

bought the leupold 4.5x14 ao bc. very nice scope. contemplated between that and the zeiss conquest 4.5x14 ao. both really nice. leupold reticle tends to stand out better on darker surfaces. conquest has a bit finer reticle and a touch better glass. but leupold is made here with an outstanding warranty from what i am told

Leupold Made in USA
Any credible info on this ?? Thanks.
I read on another forum that the new Redfield is made in USA of USA parts and Imported glass. Anyone care to add anything regarding the last USA scopes ? Nightforce ?? I am done buying foreign shit and supporting corporations and countries that fuck us even if I have to wipe my ass on poison oak leaves and ride a skateboard to work.

from what i have read (or at least what i think i read), some leupold scopes are still made here. others are not labeled as such and when people questioned the origin, leupold wouldn't answer.
i know i have an older leupold lr/t that is engraved "made in usa". i haven't bought one in years so i honestly don't know if that is still there or not, but i've heard it's not. if you are truly interested in the origin of the scopes in question, i'd suggest calling the manufacture and getting the answer directly from the horses mouth. if they won't answer, then you can be the judge.
