OK....Superior Axle is now making custom length SUPER 44 axles.

Question: "What makes these axles so super?"

Answer: "The manufacturing processes."

Manufacturing process breakdown (same for SUPER 60 Axles):

1) The axle is forged of 4340.
2) It is then through hardened.
3) Next comes the machining process (yokes & shafts are cleaned up).
4) The splines are then rolled (thats right, not shaped or hobbed).
5) The axle is then heat treated again with the use of an induction hardning machine.
6) The axle is then treated with a corrosive resistant black oxide coating finnish.
7) All this from the good old USA (not from India, coff, coff)

Pricing is as follows:
Outters (19 or 30 spline): $139.99
Short Side Inner: $209.99
Long Side Inner: $219.99

The shafts go for $709.96 which includes both inners and outters for all 44 applications.

What makes this better than a set of Warn shafts and some CTM's. I know the CTM's are the same either way, but what shaft is stronger?

I like the superior axles better than the warns because Warn thru hardens their axles to RC 55, which I think is too hard for 4340, it makes the ears too brittle, also I've heard complaints about the hole for the u-joints warping too much during heat treat and can make assembly difficult, plus it's not loading the u-joint cap evenly. The superior shafts are forged, thru hardened to RC35, then machined, so the ujoint hole stays round, they also roll the splines hard (way bitch'n), and even custom length shafts will have rolled splines. The axles are induction hardened to RC52, and then the seal and bearing surfaces are ground. Another plus is that the minor diameter of the shaft necks down to the pitch diameter of the splines between the splines and seal and seal and end yoke so they have some torsional twist, when they make a matched pair, the long axle has the same necked down length as the short axle so they have similar torsional stiffness, so the short side doesn't get as much abuse.

I could be wrong harry but I think only the scout axles can use the 30 spline outers.

Sorry for the delayed answer, its been pretty busy around here. Yes that is correct. However, I think that Warn has an upgrade kit. I'll check it out and have a definate answer later today.
