Same thing here !

Is the intercom push-to-talk, or full duplex ?

When you are in the Intercom mode you can speak freely like you are on the phone no buttons to push. You can’t play the music and be on the intercom at the same time You would need to turn off the intercom and just be on the FM radio or MP3 player mode.

What kind of battery life do you get out of these units? And call me a pessimist, but 1/4 mile range seems REALLY optimistic for a bluetooth based radio; have you ever tested these things at that kind of distance?

I have not tested it BUT the MFG of these is confident that they will go that distance

Is there a regular headset available for those of us that are too stubborn to wear helmets?

Looks basically the same as our Blueant systems we use in comps over here in Australia. They are a very good product.

These are just the helmet kits at this time. Blinc I'm sure is working on other options for headsets and such for there kit, just nothing else at this time.

got mine in and installed on the two helmets, tested it out in the front yard...link to iphone's work perfectly and intercomm mode works good. sound quality is good. have not tested at open distance yet but with one person inside house and one person outside we got about 40 yards on hearing perfectly clear...lost audible at 60 yards. Will test outside when weather is better. Otherwise, for what we bought it for (25 yards distance max) it works perfectly!
