Question: I realize the bushing & ball socket are obviously stronger, but is the stud made of a stronger material than OEM?

Yes, the Synergy studs are manufactured from heat treated 4140 chromolly material... The stud material that the auto parts stores use I am sure vary between suppliers but most should be made from some sort of heat treated material but am not 100% sure. The BIG advantage to the Synergy parts are the fact that they don't use a plastic liner.

Have you done actual strength tests on these ball joints and tested the stock, MOOG, and Spicer joints as well?
As in putting them in presses at different angles to see where they pull apart? If so, how much stronger are they then stock and standard aftermarket joints? 10%, 25%, etc..
I am truly interested in these and think they "could" be a GREAT product if they do indeed offer significant strength increase over stock and current aftermarket joints!
I think of a 44 joint that is a strong as a stock 60 joint or close to it and say wow! Why hasn't someone done this before, just genius!

We are actually in the middle of working on making a ball joint tester that follows SAE specifications. It is a project that we are working on with some engineering students at our local university, Cal Poly SLO. But to answer your question, no we have not done any actual strength tests to get a comparison to other BJs out there. You have to understand MOST of the issues guys are having are issues with wear and how much milage guys are getting out the parts. I'd say that MOST of the BJ's out there being supplied by other manufactures are going to be fairly close in overall strength but will vary tremendously in how fast they wear out under regular use. Thats where the Synergy parts really shine... Stay turned for the ball joint tester build!!!

Very cool.. Looking forward to it!
I would think you could just pull them apart in a hydraulic press and check to see the ft lbs it takes to do it to check for strength? It might not be SAE but you could call it independently verified tests
Anyway, as I said genius! Pure genius these are

The testing device we are working on will be able to do a pull test as well along with a test that follows SAE standards.

Thanks for the response. I actually purchased these because I wanted stronger ball joints. As you know, a broken ball joint can do a lot of damage. I don't have a problem with premature ball joint wear, however, it's nice to know they'll last longer.

I started a thread here looking for some real world use and feedback..... One of the responses said that the joints need to be greased weekly? Is this correct?
If so do you recommend these as a off road only joint?

The Synergy Suspension Heavy Duty Ball Joint instruction manual states,
"Lubricate the ball joints at every oil change using quality extreme pressure moly grease."
http://synergysuspension.com/instruc...BALLJOINTS.pdf

However, it's general knowledge to also grease the vehicle after every off-road outing.

There is the correct answer. FYI, we are almost done with working out some grease to offer guys that is formulated specifically to be used with the Synergy ball joints?

Special grease? I currently use redline synthetic cv grease for everything. I'm taking apart my front axle in the next week for new axles and will be getting a set of these to replace the existing ball joints?

We have our own formula for BJ/Chassis/Suspension grease about to be released. It has been in testing for quite awhile with VERY good results... Stay tuned!

Depends what year XJ's you are looking for... The 4121's are instock and the 4129's will be in by the end of the month.
