Hopefully I can get my CNC up and running soon so I can get the buck for the hood done. The plan is still to replicate your Grand hood style. The hood will be vacuum formed out of styrene. Then it will really look closer to it. For 12 I'd say he did a pretty good job with the photohack!

Ok, I'll admit to not being current on the R/C scene. Saw that and was all like "Holy crap! They even have disc brakes for these things?"

Took me a few moments to realize that it wasn't functional...

Harley, sticking with the RipSaws or changing to something else? Are those the hard RTR compound or the R35?

Right now I'm using the R35 Ripsaws. I think they perform better than any other scale tire. However RC4WD has the 2.2 Two-Face that looks just like a Goodyear MTR and since those were so popular this year I think I may go to those for scale appearance.

Time to do some WIRING!

While staring at the rig tonight I came up with a plan...

I decided to run a "false panel" behind the seats to hide the wiring. So here is the progress from tonight.

First, I copied the existing panel Jerry made. Then drilled it so that the tops were level.

This creates a cavity behind the panel for me to run all my wires out of sight since the side panels hide the gap.

Then I started laying out the electronics, marked and drilled some holes.

Then I had another idea... Anyone know what these are?

I separated the wires on the BEC Pro so I could run the wires more cleanly.

Mount the panel up to test fit with the electronics in place.

Top deck in place.

A little trimming on the interior and everything tucks away nice and clean.

With the RX backwards, it allows the seat to go back further since the wires don't have to have room to stick out.

Here is a mock up of the under hood area.

I needed some small gauge stranded wire...

So I had an idea.

PERFECT!

And skip to the end result. 8)

So my ideal hood for this rig comes from Ashman's rig. While I have always dug Liberty hoods and the traditional JK/TJ/CJ hood the Grand style was something new.

So tonight I began the process of forming my own. So far I have only made the BASE of the buck so I can start modeling the hood out of clay.

Blue tape to protect the paint.

Aluminum tape to make the inside of the mold (light cover of oil wax to make to aid in release)

Poor in some plaster of paris.

This is where I'll leave it for the night. Probably try and get it shaped on Sunday.

wow.....you've got some talent. Great idea on the double panel to hide the wires. This thing is just sick! Jimmy's should be proud.

Absolutely Amazing!!!!! Great Job!
Once you get it done then you need to "cookie cutter" it so we all can have one.

I changed the kick panels I think this flows the body lines better. It looks like you will trim the hood to follow the top fender tube, I almost did that on my hood but like the look of the new kick panel I tried.

I saw the new mod in your thread last night. Flows really nice, everything looks like it was designed to be that way.

Mine will likely be cut up high do to my lack of skills to create the fender shapes. I will be molding the final mold buck tonight. I made the plaster negative mold last night.

The tip of the grill got thin but I'll fix that with the Bondo mold.

I might form an aluminum hood tonight.

Tonight we spent a solid 5 hours working up the vinyl wrap for the rig. I used Derek West's number because the slant of the numbers flowed best out of all the team Jimmy's drivers

Randy and Jimmy's sent over his logo, the rest are just my sponsors.

We'll be in print ASAP. They should be on by Thursday.

Are you passing on the Grand Cherokee front wrap? The JK wrap looks just as killer. The aluminum work turned out great too.
