Axial Wraith

So I want to buy a wraith, most likely new. But pm me if you have a sweet deal I should know about. But my question is which one or price of the best one for the buck. This is for me who has no other parts or electronics. So I'd need every thing to make it run. And I think I'd be wanting to go with brushless and lipo systems. I'm wanting to get an idea of how much $$ and where to spend it for the most benifit. I'd rather not buy things twice if I can avoid it, like motors and esc's, batteries and chargers. I'd like to just be schooled about this and get my ducks in a row before I take the plunge. The one thing I do know is I want a Wraith. Thanks for your time.

Wraith kit $300
Savox servo $80
Hot Racing dig transmission $40
brushless esc/ motor combo $200
Flysky fs-gt3b radio hacked from Losikid $60
mip driveshafts $70
hot racing axleshafts $80
hot racing hubs and knuckles $100
cheap 11.1 3s lipo (ebay special) $30
Lipo balance charger (ebay special) $40
STRC steering linkage $15

So about $1000 to have a wraith that can handle brushless

Your list really makes me wonder if you've ever been around a Wraith. Hot racing shafts are total shit. The Wraith kit comes with universale that are 10 times stronger and no need to replace.

The HR dig is also shit and completely unneeded for him.

Get batteries from hobbypartz.com for a better quality, eBay is sketchy at best for batteries.

STRC linkage is a joke and requires extra parts to function. If you are going to upgrade that it needs to be Vanquish. At that point VP hubs and knuckles are going to be about $100 and are an improved design.

Get a good ESC, Mamba Max Pro and a sensored brushless motor, Tekin 13.5 is a good choice.

I don't have a wraith. I was going to buy one and priced out parts that I was going to buy then decided to buy a traxxas slash. My buddy pinittowinit707 has a wraith and he's had to change out almost everything at least once. The lipos I got on ebay for $19/ea shipped all work great. I run a Hitec x4 ac/dc charger and can run full throttle all day

Thanks

So most of the running gear can handle the brushless and lipo power. That's nice, front digs don't do it for me. Maybe later, but for now I'm liking Harleys wraith and how it seams to be a blast to drive. I used to run a rc10T back in the day, but now it's all changed. The motors and batteries are so much more, and less expensive. What happened? Better technology? Or china kicked in? Either way it seems all the batteries and motors, esc's are different with more run time and more power. Thanks for the input. Oh is there different wraith kits?

Listen to Harley. He knows his stuff. I have the MMP and Tekin 13.5. They're awesome. Everything Vanquish rocks. Again, listen to Harley!

Also, I have the EOS0606i charger. When the battery has complete charge cycle should I disconnect or can I leave it plugged in. Does it turn it's self off at some point? I was told an hour . Thanks for any input.

Your speed control should have a low voltage cutoff, LVC, which cuts off the power at the appropriate voltage level before damage may occur to your lipos.

Which lipo do you have (2s, 3s, 4s, etc)? The Hyperion is a great charger. Have you been balancing the lipos as you've been charging them? If you do, it will beep when it's done and will show progress as a percentage.

Yes I have the balancer plugged in while charging. The guy at the hobby shop told me that it would take an hour to charge. Set everything up and it beeped after 20mins thought that was odd. Ran the car for about 4hrs. till dead. Charge the battery again (waited and hout) this time it took 70 mins. to charge. Nice if they would explain this in the manual.
Thanks for the info. I can see / understand what's it doing now.

The reason it only took 20 min the first time is because they come from the factory with a partial charge. At 50% charge must be applied to the battery before storing it for any period of time for more than a couple days if you want the life of the battery to be long and reliable.

What ESC do you have and has it been setup for lipo cutoff? Is it the stock Wraith ESC? I believe that ESC has lipo cutoff built in but look at your manual.
