my pirate inspired scaler

Inspiration:

dont have a clue who's buggy it is, if you know I would like to get in touch with them....

I blew up the pics of the buggy until the tubing matched sizes. By my calculations 1/10 scale makes 1.5"/1.75" = 3/16". The buggy will have an r2d (with dig) 55t brushed motor and BTA steering when finished.

Axial axles
Jet Designs prototype BTA
55t
rc4wd r2d
1.9 rockstompers
hs 645mg (steer)
hs 81 (dig)

oven cleaner works pretty good at getting that ugly green off.

I used Harris safty silv 45 for all the brazing. People say you need oxy/mapp for it but I find that with straight Mapp and a turbo torch I get it plenty hot enough and Im not running out of o2 every 5 min.

I find that doing the 1/10 version works great as a sim for building in full scale. It realy allows you to work out some problems you cant see on a piece of paper or even a computer screen.

Took the scaler to a 1:1 wheelin buddies house for a BBQ... he has a "small" crawling course in his backyard. After a couple hrs of playing and several falls from the top of the course (about 6'). Now I need to get the body panels made.

Thats the original prototype for 1 I will be selling over on RCcrawler... The final version will have a cleaner look and has the servo sitting straight versus at an angle.

With the 1.9" tires BTA was almost manditory
