Ok, I finally got one of these for Xmas (bought it for myself ) and am in the process of installing the front locker. What am I missing here? The "pins" on the locker are larger (square edged) than the openings in the carrier (which are rounded). Do I need to grind/file them down to fit, or am I missing somethign here?

Also the Link Kit needs more parts too.................I dont see how they install....

I got mine in... Need a little love. I think you do need more parts for your links. I was doing a little reading, on the locker, and came across a dude who was sad he needed the rod end "kit" to install the links.

i dont have an RTR,

mine started as the regular kit

but i just put the Axial lockers in place of the factory green POS locker, and mine fit without any issues, slipped right in

I did dip the locker in grease prior to install ( a little grease never hurts)

Yep......Locker and motor upgrade will happen today. Pretty surprised at how well it does just out of the box....... I am folding the lower rear links when there is traction or bound up.......

Of course I left the owners manual at Rounds......

I got the RTR during the summer. It did well but as the saying goes I wanted more. Yes those stipid plastic links suck(torque twist). As it sits now it has 55t motor, new esc, new servo, new tires, new weighted wheels, memory foams, aluminum links (upper-lower/front-rear/steering), hi-clearance steering knuckles, saddle batteries, new MIP drivelines, new '80s chevy body-cut fenderwells. These are just as bad as the real thing in adding new part to them. I still want new axles too.

Edit: oh yeah new shocks, and four link rear.

it should fit w/out issue......i think it only goes one way. i am thinking of putting mine in....its a bit of a rock racer

I don't know what you mean by square edge, could you possibly post a picture of what you currently have set up now? I've never heard of anything that needs to be ground down to fit into the carrier itself, it's usually the half circle then flat side.

weird?? my six year old put his front locker in his rtr after i cracked the 4 housing bolts loose for him...you want me to ask him for you kevvy???

No prob for me....it was lance with the issue

Put that in ans the 55 Motor..........allot better. Cut some coat hanger wire and tape it to the links for some strenght......worked like a charm

Some foam cutting and tire grooving next..........

Yeah I needed another money pit hobbie..............like I need a shotgun to the mouth.........

there is a white seal around it you have to get off before the locker will slide in

You can fab new bottom links pretty easily. Get some Traxxas rod ends, 6-32 all thread, and 3/16 brakeline tubing, and go nuts. Cheap n EZ

I picked this up thinking it would be a fun cheap way to get me throught the winter till next year when I can bash the 1:1 again.

The rod end pack is needed if using the available aluminum links. The RTR has solid plastic links that incorporate the end for the swivel ball to sit in. The aluminum links need the rod ends threaded on.

I'm sure there are PLENTY of people with stock piled stock links and rod ends. I got a complete set from someone for ~$10 for my project.
