Battery Tech Question

This is my first attempt at an electric. I am usually in the nitro world...

I just got a SCX 10 from Axial and have installed the Novak Goat system and had a Racers Edge 4400 Bat in the mix. As I mentioned, it is my first electric, so I ran into the hobby store to make sure I had all of my connections right before I powered on (didn't want to fry anything).

It all worked great and was a blast... for about an hour.

Still running off of the first charge on a brand new bat., I turn on the radio then turn on the ESC and receiver. It starts out okay, and then it starts flashing as if the power has become intermittent, then the smoke pours out of the battery connector. I take the body off and try to get the connector undone, but by then the plastic has welded itself together and the bat wires pull right out of the connector.

How the hell does this happen?

I was running it just fine 10 minutes earlier and the only thing that changed was the addition of the body...

also, am I now the proud owner of a fried ESC???

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have any picts of your rig? What kind of battery was it, lipo, nimh, how many cells? What were your settings on the ESC? Were you using a BEC for the front servo? Get me some answers and I can help you out.
