The Dakar Rally started on Saturday and runs till the 16th. Anyoone found any streams of coverage besides IRC tracking? I found a torrent of day 1 coverage but nothing else so far.

some vids here too, the US coverage is complete shit... all three announcers are fucktards and the one hispanic chic is annoying as hell (though she is cute) and who gives two flying fucks about the culture of the goddamn town you are driving through, show the fucking race....and finally you dont need a re-cap at the end of a 30 minute recap show to re-cap what you just re-capped....

jesus tapdancing christ.... and they wonder why events like this are not big in the US...

I've since found days 2 and 3, the rips seem to be from the SBS coverage from Australia. Looks like Volkswagen has started their march towards another 1-2-3 finish. The 4th car (Mark Miller) was damaged in a crash yesterday. The Mini Countryman has been having mechanical problems as well. Robbie Gordon slid off the course and high centered on a rock. On the first day he lost 11 minutes because it started raining and his Hummer is 2WD.

Are winches not allowed?

Sure would be easier in the sand to be able to use a couple of

I don't know why they don't have winches, there must be a reason. Even the big trucks don't have them.

BMW took stage wins with both bikes and cars. Robbie Gordon is out on day 5 after a wheel bearing kept him from finishing Stage 4. There's a 2 VWs and a BMW X raid within 2 minutes of each other for the overall lead.

The Mini was running 3rd on course till he was in a dust cloud and put it into a hole. When that Mini was being built they said it was sharing parts with the new WRC car. On the SBS coverage they said it's pretty much the same as the BMW X3 underneath and it sounds like a turbo diesel.
