Thanks Barb, John and all those that helped. The wife and I learned a lot in your class. Keep up the good work and we will see ya on the trail and on the air waves. :)

Ryan, glad you finally got your ticket :) Congrats to everyone. I believe it was almost 60 new ham's added to the family after today. I love seeing it. We had a blast today, just got home and exhausted, time for a nap! Thanks to Barb and John for putting it on, and all the VE's for helping make it happen.

I plan on going all the way, then I will be able to help out at the next RTF ham test.

Ok, so no new callsigns today. It was a big class! Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday you will have them. If Monday is a holiday (President's Day?) then likely they won't post then.

I'm so bummed, kids are all ready to go. Got the base station up and running at the house, was hoping to test this weekend with the boys. Oh well next week will be here soon enough. Thanks again to you both for making this happen.

Tim.

Barb for president ............................................. Then things would get done!!!! :smokin:

n6boa 02-11-2012 07:47 PM

@Tim, sorry! I was hoping too that the licenses would be online by last Friday. If they aren't posted by Tuesday i will call the ARRL and see if they have an idea when they will be posted. Maybe because I let my membership expire they put my VE session on the back burner! LOL. :mad3:

@Steve - thanks for the VOTE of confidence! LOL :homer:

Call signs are on the FCC site.

Congrats all!!!

n6boa 02-14-2012 01:27 PM

To look up your callsigns, go to the following URL: http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchLicense.jsp

Click the menu for "search by name" (from the "search by" drop down menu). Type in your LAST, FIRST as you wrote on your FCC form 605 from the class. You likely have a KJ6Uxx callsign.

Congrats! :D

Family-jk 02-14-2012 02:38 PM

KJ6UCF and the wife KJ6UCG. Listening :D

n6boa 02-14-2012 02:54 PM

Don't just "monitor", don't just "listen", now you can TALK! However, listening is a great way to get a feel for "how it's done".

Definitely. We should get an HF net together at some point.

Curly 02-14-2012 03:46 PM

KJ6UCY and KJ6UCZ The boys are now known as "Juicy":D

fermentor 02-14-2012 04:38 PM

Congrats all. Not sure if all got processed today, but here is what FCC shows today, and it looks like there may be some strays. (Disco - have it in spreadsheet and can email you for your call sign thread, lemme know)
EDIT*********************************
I was made aware that some folks may feel it inappropriate of me to have posted personal stuff in a public forum, so you all got redacted:flipoff2:
But, you know who your are, so congrats again:D
If you feel like exposing yourself, post up here:/forum/rubicon-trail/724559-list-ham-call-signs.html, and Disco can do the work:flipoff2:
Again...congrats to the new Hams

(if you have hard time finding your way around FCC website, PM me and I'll send you your call)

n6boa 02-14-2012 06:34 PM

The last four on the list aren't ours. Good work Dale! Thanks for posting these :) I don't think Kyle French was ours either... He snuck in LOL. John will email you a few others from the list that were either walk-ins or not from our VE session :)

Bump for an old thread...
Given recent events once again bringing to light the value of HAM radio on the trail, are there any plans for another class / test in the near future?

edabd 08-01-2012 08:11 AM

Another Ham Class!

Thanks for the bump. I really need to take a ham class and get a radio. Any info on the next ckass would be great.

I am testing this Saturday!:smokin:

I have been using the on-line Technician Class here - http://w6ek.org/veexams.html

resqme 08-01-2012 08:33 AM

You guys are killin' us! Next class will be in the fall, probably October. We'll put it out there when it happens.

stealthjeep1 08-01-2012 08:43 AM

Right on, I'd be interested in the class. Been looking into Ham for the last couple years.
