You can go out any way you want, I always head back to Spider and stay an extra day or two. You can wheel all you want while you're there, just not on the Rubicon Springs property for liability reasons...wanna go up to Buck, Observation, or Long lake for the day on Saturday? No problem! The only thing that will create a problem is if you wheel against jamboree traffic, for instance going to Buck from the Springs on Friday would probably be bad unless you got an early enough start not to run into Jamboree traffic coming down Big Sluice.

I'm going to be registering for this trip next week with a buddy of mine. Neither of us have been to the rubicon and wouldn't mind hooking up with a group or a few individuals that have done the trail before. I'm also not sure what to do about tow rig/trailer storage, as it sounds like it's going to be one hell of an event with a ton of people.

If you don't hook up with someone, I wouldn't worry too much about it. JJ is a fantastic opportunity for Rubicon noobs as there are trail guides (rockrollers) at all the hard spots, lots of other experienced folks on the trail all going to the same place you are, and support in general from Jamboree to get you going to the right place safely. Tow rig might be a little harder, depending on where you are going in and out. You can try the following places: Tahoe Staging if you are planning to run all the way through is ideal IF your rig is street legal and you can then drive around to Georgetown to pick up your packets. That way your tow rig is waiting for you at the end and you don't have to drive around when you are tired or broken. You would probably have to get there by Wednesday morning early to get a spot, I'm guessing. Loon Lake has two spots you can leave a tow rig, one at the kiosk at the trailhead, and one at the dirt parking lot at the Chalet near the first dam/SMUD powerhouse . DO NOT park on the pavement at the Chalet as the Forest will tow you. There is lots of room at both spots (more than Tahoe), but again, I would pick up your packets from JJ in Georgetown and try to get there by Wednesday afternoon and plan to camp overnight or go in the trail a bit and camp, otherwise there may be no room. Your last option would be to try to find someplace private that someone will loan you a spot in Pollock Pines or Gerogetown.

If the weather cooperates, a bikini could possibly see the light of day this time! Flatfender is in a pile of parts, I sure wish I knew a handy young gentleman who could put it back together for me............

Just plunked down 8 bills
![]() for my first Jamboree, plenty of time on the Con' but Jamboree has always been on the bucket list. Not going with a group but would like to find some fun people to hang out with in the "Not quite old, but can damn well see it from where I stand" crowd.

I'm really tempted to bring my flat fender!
![]() I've never done the 'con. It was suppose to happen last year but I was too busy rebuilding this thing. To think it started as a bad output bearing on the transmission. How that turned into this I will never know....
