Its going to be snowing all night. Im not sure if I will stay the night but I think I will probably tag along for the day. I will let you know this evening. Are you guys trailering your rigs or driving them up? Mine is pretty good on the road but I have bias tires so I try to trailer most of the time and I dont have a heater or a top.

There was about 3" of snow at the airport flat trail head and raining all day. We didnt make it to the intersection because we didnt want to wheel down the trail in the dark.

Good time on the trail
It snowed pretty hard until about 3. The snow was about 8" - 12". The slabs had some pretty good size wind drifts with minimal ice. A hard freeze might change that. Other than that we had a great time with the guys from Kombat Crawlers out of Auburn. They are a great group of guys and they respected the trail. I can wait to meet up and wheel with them again.
I would not recomend heading in there if you are not locked F&R. My ARB's got a good work out and it would have been winch time w/out them. Im on 40" IROK's and it was a little wild climbing some of the slabs.

Snow trip Aftermath
Well we headed up saturday morning with 4 rigs. the snow line was about 4 miles before stumpy medows lake. we unloaded the trailer at the lake and drove in the rest of the way. it was snowing pretty solid for most of the day untill late afternoon. there was a solid foot of snow in some areas of the trail. we wheeled damn near till buck island and decided to turn back to camp just before the little sluice. that night the tempature seemed to get down into the low teens. it got so cold that our tires froze to the ground and the snow built up in our wheels outside and in froze to straight ice which broke off my passenger brake caliper after trying to pull it forward. oh and i forgot to say. i rolled my brand new built and painted truck that i just got done building FRIDAY NIGHT!!! comming back out on sunday was quite the journey from the snow icing over from the cold night. lets just say driving back out of the slabs was very very scetchy. we each almost rolled multiple times from losing traction and slidding sideways down the bowl! a serious oh shit feeling. but we ended up making it out after over an hour of making full thottle runs up the bowl. the pics r taken all at the little sluice.

I figured you guys were going to freeze your asses off. Sucks about your truck. That thing looked great. At least you own a body shop. Pound that thing straight and keep wheeling it. I'm glad you guys made it out. I was pretty worried after I had a hell of a time getting out of there on my own Sat evening. I rolled a bead on one of my tires on my way out. Thank god I had a full Co2 tank. (that iced over) I had to pop my tire back off after filling it the first time because there was ice packed into the bead. I unlocked my hub to spin the tire durring the remount and forgot to relock it. (What a dip shit.) Needless to say 3wd up the last hill made for 5 runs at it in 4th gear a bit scketchy by my self at sunset. I didnt even notice it was unlocked until I tried to load my rig on the trailer at Stumpy. I am glad I have that 4.3 in my yota. I was worried about the bluebandit's 22re on some of those climbs. All in all I say we do it again soon.
