Rubicrawler and I are doing a re-con run to walker hill with some family for the weekend. Gonna check run off, and what not. We appologize ahead of time if we are blocking the trail when people come through... get over it, its gonna be muddy, you need to slow down

Grad weekend for the last kid for me, won't be in the Rubicon

That being said, I don't think water/mud are gonna be a problem for Memorial Day unless we get a new storm in the next two weeks. Was up day before yesterday and the trail, with the exception of the Tahoe side, is almost completely free of snow (plenty along side the trail). There was mud only in a very few places and the transitions from dirt to rock were solid.

Certainly the melt is about over at the 7000 ft elevation and below, though there is still lots of water moving from the higher elevations.

That being said, the impatience pisses me off...get over it, relax, and wait your turn, folks.

Enjoy the weekend, Brian.

Some folks seem to forget that 'wheeling the Sierra takes us away from the rush of the world... if folks are in that much of a rush, they need to pull off, stop, and take in the surroundings. Sierra scenery is the best way to relax that I know!

With most of the other trails on the Eldorado closed this season, there *will* be more use on Rubicon, and more waiting, as well. Set your expectations accordingly...

We are a group of 4 jeeps heading in through Loon Lake Friday night. Hopefully exiting to Tahoe on Sunday.

I wont be in a rush until Sunday night at 11 pm. If I am still out there then I might be in a hurry. Got to work Monday.

Well, I think you jinxed us

Hopefully we don't get much rain, or snow for that matter. This is the first time I have had Shana on the trail in the last 12 months, if my tent leaks, she won't be happy

Bring a couple extra tarps, some light rope and extra tent stakes. We can make a nice cover to keep her dry and happy

Sorry about the Sierra, it's either that or coors light when your alma mater is chico state.

Been in Brentwood 19 years, I know Kurt because we teach in the same town. We've probably passed by each other...if you've seen a khaki rubicon with a powerplant on the front.

Well.... at least you know the COOL people.

You leaving after work or adding to the sub-impacted day?

I am heading up later this afternoon...but not for the Con. I have not had a running rig for 2 years so that's otta the question. Bringing the whole family above Kyburz to go camping with a few club members in tow. I may talk them into a little midnight run up to Leek and buckskin to get at least a smidgon of wheeling in..

Tom, anyway you can bring some to Airport Flats. From what I understand its already full. Betcha there are wallets there that need to be emptied!

Toys on the Rocks is up there, and we are going in Saturday for just the day with the quad.

Hopefully see you up there.
