Memorial Day Law Enforcement Report
I have spoken directly with the USFS Law Enforcement folks and the El Dorado County Sheriff's office (they had 4 deputies out there).
Overall, we got a GREAT score folks. Yes, there were some yo-yo's and few citations were issued. But the feds were basically happy and the Sheriff told me he had never felt so welcome on a trail. He was very pleased. Now, we all know that most of the LE folks aren't out there at night, so the partying may be another story. But I haven't gotten any really bad gripes or reports. So I'm thinking that progress has been made. Many thanks to all of you who support law enforcement and who abide by the rules. Del

As for nightime, partying shouldn't be too much of a legal problem as EVERYONE knows the places to avoid if they want to be asleep at 9 pm. If we make a real effort not to piss people off in the quiter areas of the trail, we can keep it status quo in the evenings.

Those cops are very lucky, it goes without saying. I was camping at ellis and I heard some bikes/quads coming. I hear them talking and stopped so I got up and walked over. The cops were wheeling their quads up a ledge coming out of ellis creek (kinda creating a new "optional line" for themselves). First three made it and the last guy got stuck and needed help lifting the quad off the ledge. Once they looked over and saw me trying to get a picture of them they lowered their heads and got the hell out of Dodge. Still lucky SOBs.
edit- don't know if they were creating a new line or just taking an old one. They were coming out from spider and turned up and across the creek. The were just there to have FUN (laughing and having a good time), thats for sure.

I don't know if you can see them... The guy that was stuck is on the right and the others are parked on the left.
