Rubicon Trail Ambassadors?

Our Crew spent last week (Mon-Fri) on the trail, camping at Spider Lake. We met sooo many people from around the county, I thought I'd share some of their comments with you all.

Our first encounter was from a group from Clayton, OK. They noticed my FOTR stickers on the EB and they really openned up. This was their first trip to the Rubicon and they were amazed at the beauty of the area. We helped spot them across the bowl and share an adult beverage once on the new bypass. They were great folks!

Our next meeting was with a group from Colorado Springs, CO. They had 4 VERY well equiped Jeeps in their group. We meet up with them at the Little Sluice and assisted them when the first rig got really hung up in the middle of the box. We talked for a while and made a few new friends. Again, great folks!

We also ran into a group from Las Vegas as well as a group from LA. We just exchanged pleasantries and went on our way.

We felt so lucky to be so close to the Rubicon! Many users travel many days just to have the chance to travel the most popular trail in the world! We are truly very fortunate

One of the people in the group from OK asked if we were trail Ambassadors when noticing my FOTR stickers. I thought about it for a minute, and I replied "your might say that". But then went on to explain how our little group formed and how we operate. They were very interested in our organization and were interested in starting an organization of their own back home in Clayton

Are you an Ambassador? I think we all are

Well said!

We have to be as it is the best and most successful way to change unwanted behavior. Signs, education and law enforcement all help but a huge impact comes from peer pressure and leading by example.

I was behind a couple of guys from OK on Wednesday(a black YJ and a red Scrambler), might have been the same guys. They commented to me at how beutiful it was up there.
Also met a group from Oregon on Tuesday at Buck. One of them welded up my junk as I had a cracked LCA mount.
Meantime, I was leading a group of friends(three rigs) from Idaho through the trail, it was their first Rubicon experience.
People from all over come to this great trail. It's worth it to preserve it's beuty for all to see.

Mark, I'm surprised I didn't see you up there. I went past Little Sluice around noon on Monday.

ARE YOU A TRAIL AMBASSADOR?
Yes, if you're FOTR, if you care about the trail, if you're a club member out there doing it right, you ARE a Trail Ambassador.

If you take it one step further, you're also a Volunteer Trail Patrol member. Reporting the real bad guys.

Josh, NICe images. Good work. Love the geese and youngster.
Good work.
I should put something like this on our Rubicon Home Page and call it:

why we give a hoot about the Rubicon Trail....

You are welcome to this pic! Mike is my 6yo. While my wife was taking the pic, Mike was saying... "This is my lake". Maybe if we all felt that way we would take better care of it.

That is the best camp site on Spider. Right in the far right corner closest to the slabs above the box. I almost had those geese feeding out of my hands the last 2 times up there. They live there all summer. Nice pic. I have a good one of my boy soaking in the sights also from just a couple weeks ago.
