Crawfish hunting
I got really bugged when I saw a small group of jeepers stop at the springs to collect crawfish to eat. Not just a few, but bag fulls of them. They were rude about it, going through peoples camps like they owned the place. The idiots were there long enough that I can't imagine there were any crawfish left in sight!
I don't know if it is illegal, but people should realize that the Rubicon has way to much pressure from people to "live off the land". Bring your own food

SO what are you views on fishing? Basiclly the same thing.
Crawfish reproduce at an alarming rate. Collecting bags full of them more then likely will not harm the populations. And if they at them then it shouldnt matter. I have fished on the rubicon and ate what I have caught. Same with various other trails in and around the area. The disturbance to peoples camps is just rude.

Unfortunately - DFG puts no limit on the take of crawfish.
Just like Albacore... That's not to say that taking "excessive" amounts is not wrong. There are men in this world that hold themselves to a higher standard than DFG sets. Sure, you can keep a fat momma sturgeon of 71" -but I'd let her go. After all, the law doesn't cover all things evil and wrong, right? It ain't illegal to go around breaking girls' hearts, but we all grow up sooner or later - hopefully. That said - there is one little law that does step in when it's needed. WASTE of take is illegal. That means if you see these guys blowing them up with firecrackers, or stepping on them, or just leaving them to rot - it is considered waste and DFG can bust for it. |
