I know that Roggy is building some new protection for all the sherrif quads since they took such a beating so far. So maybe they don't go up without them. They will be done this week.

I saw none eather.

There sure was a handfull of disrespectful idiots though.
I saw a few people riding in the rear of trucks ontop of camping stuff just waiting to get thrown out.

Also saw a couple people off the trail blazin away (on quads too), they recieved an earfull for that.

But the dumbest thig I saw all weekend was a couple of guys in a truck with thier heads hanging outside the window openings because the cab was crushed in, with no rollbar or seatbelts drivin like asshats into the trail.

It did seem that every person doing things eather idiotic or disrespectful that I saw were very young(like highschool) and they really need to be educated on how to act.

All in All I had a great time and met some awesome people.(sorry I didnt get to meet you Danger Ranger)

Education is the key. I have mentioned to some that the Sherriff has a presence and the beers go away as if they saw them. Kinda funny really. I wish I could write tickets for that too cuz I would get alot of them.

The kiosk will get finished early next spring. That will be a big step towards educating the masses.

I agree we were on the trial Tuesday.. and prevented a wild fire.

Some idiot had a fire over the weekend right by the first bathroom on the trail. He had it in rocks apparently.. but didn't put it out when they left.

We dug 5 feet away from the fire pit and the soil was almost to hot to put your hand on.. another 1ft and it would have reached the "forest" (not just dirt/roots).. and startted a blaze!

We brought up water from the lil creek and continued dousing/barrying and digging the fire out...

We were on our way back from Spyder and the ladys needed a bathroom break, luckily we weren't alone some hunters had spotted the smoke and also helped putout the fire.

Shovels and an empty ice chest to carry water probably saved that part of the trail/forest.

The hunters also told us they were radioing in the Forest Service to notify them of the incident, they were giving them the location via GPS readout so if desired they could do a water drop.

We got up to Loon late Monday, and went in to the trail on Tuesday.

No one came out of the trail on Tuesday at all. And we only saw 2 people camping right on the slabs by the lil sluice. So we assumed it was from Sunday Night.. since it had burnt so far underground.

About idiots and boneheads:

Consider yourself to be among the fortunate many -- the many of us that are NOT boneheads and idiots on the trail.

But yes, we have some folks that get out of town and their brain slips into under-drive or something. And we have some folks that just don't know. That's right; their folks didn't teach them.

Education is the key. It's hard to do much enforcement wise about bone head behavior. Unless our LE guys see boneheads in the act, it's really a tuff one for me to pursue with them or for you to pursue. Educate them! Nicely. Be patient. Not everyone is as informed as we are.

And yes, our patrol ATV's have been in the shop for a few weeks. They'll be on the road shortly. Thanks to Bob Roggy (C & R Motorsports) for bending the machines back into shape.

Remember that it's usually not worth getting your blood pressure up while out playing on the trail. Take a deep breath and try to educate the un-informed and report the blatant law breakers. The most important thing is for YOU to enjoy your time on the trail.

Don't let someone else spoil your trip. But if they're really bad guys/gals, then let me spoil their next trip!

I think that part of the problem is that people just don't understand that you don't have to be right next to the forest to start it on fire. People don't understand that hot little ashes fly a very long way and can start a fire. EDUCATION is the key.
