Another reason why I run a dual MC (1 line front/1 rear) & a stick.

Was that WW section?

Armchair QB: seems like the driver tried to stay on the trail after it happened. I'd be heading for the bushes ASAP.

You mean like the bushes to the left to help slow down before the turn?

I'd hate to be in this drivers position. Seems it would be difficult to make the correct decisions when things go bad.

That battery flying out all over the place is crazy scary.

That was my thought...exact same situation on exact same turn 3 years ago on Jamboree. Driver went straight into the bushes for the slowdown and walked away with scratches on the rig and some minor damage to a fender.

Dude almost made the turn!

Yes. 1 fatality on Con without belts. This incident, relatively uneventful...driver had a really good cage (if you notice, it wasn't even bent) and he said they had 5 point on.

Okay, glad no one got hurt but even with no brakes how's it get going that fast in low range?

I doubt my cage would have survived that.

Good save and good on you having a cage that worked and seatbelts put on.

There's a fine line between a rough weekend and a fatality.

I was wondering this but then I got to thinking, I have an auto with stock low in the transfer case (2.56) and on descents, I depend a lot on my brakes to stay in control. Possible he also has an auto and the t-case was in a higher gear or wasn't low enough to begin with. Still scary! Makes me want dual cases. I doubt the tranny would like being thrown in park as a last ditch effort to stop.

You need to upgrade you trans. My 4l60e with a stock 300 behind it will fawking near stop my rig in first gear.

from the video, I doubt that he would have been in low range. I have a 5.0 atlas/automatic and very rarely ever need to hit my brakes on very steep downhills......but, where this guy was, I probably would have been in hi range also and wouldn't have been able to cram either front or rear in low range. that's what happened to the famous lady coming down lions back in moab. she tried to change ranges in her transfercase and couldn't get it back in gear. we are getting ready to do the rubicon again in a week and half.......I always respect the trail, even though it is not what I consider hardcore. thank God there were no injuries with the people involved!!

You can see the battery vacate from under the hood on one of the rolls. And yeah, they stayed pretty damn calm considering. Glad they are OK

had to have been in neutral or something. Glad they were ok but that video should have stopped a few seconds in to the bushes on the left

My old girl never gets out of low range on the trail. Drum brakes though and I get a thrill after every water crossing. Often as it happens I still forget

Like everyone said, glad everyone was OK #1

This is why I want to punch every one in the face that thinks there is only a possibility of a roll when doing something sketchy.

Was he shifting from hi to low? seems like even 1st gear in hi wouldn't be that fast.

This also reminds me why I want a mechanical ebrake on my rig Vs a line lock.

I'm not an automatic driver so I'm confused as to what happened. I hope driver fills us in. May put in those extra harnesses
