Soup Bowl FOTR project. Easy line around Soup Bowl will be closed!

Soup Bowl Easy line step repair October 15th.

Quick, one day project, the trail will be closed with the exception of Soup Bowl to pass the work area.
FOTR's intentions are to place re bar and concrete eliminate the ever growing "step" on the easy line, to prevent traffic congestion, sediment, and the trail widening as well as safety issues near soup bowl.
We will need 10-12 volunteers to help with traffic control, drilling and placing re bar, water gathering and moving, mixing and pouring concrete with the new off road cement mixer.

Why is that needed? Just to continue to pave away?

The plan is to make this step less of a jump. Prevention of traffic congestion under Soup and Kitchen ( potential safety issue with rigs crawling above other rigs trying to pass) Also sediment problems and to stop the traffic that is driving over the plants on the right side.

This is problem obviously becoming rampant.

There is zero safety issue there and we all know it. This is a problem area for the yuppies in the jeepers jamboree. They obviously can't run in the "V" because dragging their tops is common because of tire size/lack of offset and that's bad for revenue because they won't return.

If you were truly concerned with vegetation, it would be handled completely different, but that's not the case.
You're building a bypass for possible body damage.

What a waste of resources. there is already an obstacle and a bypass. Leave it alone.

You had me at new off road cement mixer

The concrete and re bar is completely unnecessary as the trail is next to the wall. The area to the right looks to be a newly created widening of the trail - not ideal as it is creating vegetation loss, however as manzanita is not a protected species, and the base is granite, if the County wants to allow continued use, that's on them.

I would vote to block continued use of the newly created right line, not encourage it's use by making it easier.

Where and when are these types of projects discussed and planned?

And - here is one comment from me - As Past Trail Boss of FOTR:

Shannon is passing along info, this is a County project. As trail boss her job is to organise volunteers.

Please direct you disgust or praise to the County, or Vickie Sanders.

Thx.

really displeased with the shot callers, and reasons to make these calls are becoming more obvious as days go by yes, i am happy the Rubicon trail is open. No I am not happy at all on how things are being handled.

Any feedback from RTF on this??? Anyone? Anyone?

The fact that op thinks that anyone believes the bullshit lies he's spewing says a lot.

Why not just be honest? You're making a bulls*** bypass to prevent body damage for your customers.

There is no safety hazard. It's been that way forever and your excuse is pathetic.

If anything, you're now creating a safety hazard. Some idiots gonna try the "V", start rubbing his hardtop and freak out and stop. Then someone's gonna become impatient and run the new line you and your "team" created and slip off and slam into the rig in the "V".

Congratulations on your well thought out paving of our trail

My only answer is behind closed doors.

RTF needs to be on top of this stuff and ask for users input prior to any decision being made.

RTF/FOTR have no control over the projects on the trail anymore.

I saw your post.

I know who Vickie is, but I was referring to the op. If he has any sort of common sense, he knows that the reasoning he claims is complete bs. This is not a safety problem and anyone who supports this "paving" doesn't have the trail or its average users best interest in mind.

I have been watching what's been happening for years with this trail. The writing is all over the wall. There is a bunch of backdoor crooked s*** going on and the changes repeatedly benefit the JJ and it can't be denied.

Edit; you personally deserve a ton of credit and respect for all that you've done for the trail and it's users.

Agreed - but HE is still a SHE.

Edit: and thank you for the compliment.

Shannon being given a direction by the county (Vickie Sanders) is not the same as the days when we discussed on the forum what areas needed to be addressed and then made a plan to execute it.

The directive no longer requires buy-in by the users because there is no longer an advocacy group for the trail.

We lost control of projects in 2010 - I quit because I was told FOTR as I knew it was dead. This is the new FOTR.

We need a new group to advocate for the projects being done on the trail.

I would agree no 'official' control.

Don't you think John Arenz (RTF Vice Pres) has Vickie's ear?

Couldn't FOTR say "no we, the users, don't agree with that project and we're not going to do it"?

Can't the users flood the El Dorado County's inbox with complaints regarding specific projects that are NOT safety issues but are being pushed for other reasons?

We, the users, need to take back the decisions being made regarding OUR trail by the county and by those who don't even bother going through the county.

So then the logic must be that lesser equipped rigs can go around that "hard" spot and get further in the trail and block it there instead.

Makes perfect sense.
