Oh MAN!!!! That was beautiful!!!! Absolutely amazing how much snow is up there. So cool to see the fresh untouched fluff!
Depending on the rest of the winter, May and early June trips just might be a little interesting this year! lol

Current snow conditions on the Rubicon?

Hi any current snow wheeling conditions on the west side of the trail? Curly have you been in since the HYW 50 closures? I sent you a PM about my upcoming snow wheeling trip plans.

Talking with some friends over the weekend and looking through some pictures from years past. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that 2017 will go down as one of the most epic snow winters for the trail in recent years.

When some of the more/top seasoned snow wheelers come out of the trail after two days and say "Im cold, I'm wet, wow, I'm going home", you know Ma Nature is truly bringing the action.

The drifts are huge, the holes are rig swallowing and the snow is deep. If you do go up be prepared for an adventure and make damn sure you have all necessary gear/communications. This winter and current conditions are not any joking matter.

Let it snow!!!

If you know where this is you can see the size of this drift. This last batch of snow really got the drifts growing. Quick in and out on the sled today, it was work. That is all

Here is a short Rubicon trail High lights/ trail/ snow conditions for March 3 thru March 5 2017.

Rig swallowing caverns 8' to 15'deep where liquid water was or is present. Caverns are: east of the Ellis Creek bridge, above ( east) of Post Pile. Not an all inclusive list. See the attached picture taken with my rig "attempting" to cross a cavern; AKA " unbridge" ( new word?) BEFORE the storm.

2+ feet of new snow/ high winds on March 4-5 with EXTREME snow drifts @ first dam 15' to 20' deep. I will call the 1st dam snow drift the " Tsunami". That's what it looked like to me, in near white-out conditions. Looked like a solid wall "coming for me"!!!! Had to do multiple bonzai runs to try and pack it down, then use the "Pull Pal" ( land anchor). I was pulling cable and walking/ crawling in the snow drifts almost up to my chest.

With the high winds in virtual white-out conditions, I almost drove off the second dam into the lake! Yes I was going SLOW, about .25 MPH in super crawler gear and I still didn't see where the top of the dam was!!!

Off-camber snow drift(s) @ plow line( Loon Lake Chalet) to first dam. This will stop many rigs under the current conditions. No good winch points to keep you out of the lake!

Oh just if you don't know, I run 49" Iroks on double beadlocks ( thanks Cruzila) running@ 1.5 PSI. Have fun, but be safe! Cheers. Toyrocs

I planned to meet up with one other snow wheeler on the trail but he cancelled and another extreme snow wheeler was unavailable for this trip. So yes solo.
