Nice weekend to be up there but I brought my neighbor with me and he left his grey Honda Element below the dam with all the tow rigs and trailers. I thought it would be safe there. We came out the Tahoe side late Sunday night and came all the way around to the loon Lake entrance again and found that someone had busted through his grill, pried open his hood, and stolen his battery. Not nice at two in the morning to find. Anyway, if anyone has any info, PM me please. And the person who did this probably doesn't read this or care but if so, you're a disgrace. But, life goes on .
They damaged the grill and the hood. Not that bad, but it'll cost a few hundred I guess at a shop, and his insurance deductable is $500. I bet it was someone who just needed a battery to get out and got desperate.
I came out the loon side on sunday about 4:30 or 5:00 pm and saw the element ther it was silver and parked near the little shack thingy. Looked ok from a far when we drove past so maybe it happened after we saw it. there was only a few tow rigs left in the lot and a few guys comin in with a blue cj on a trailer. but i definatly saw the car cause we commented about if we owned it we would take it through gate keeper
:mad3: I hate hearing about this crap. I leave my glove box and center console open to show people that I don't have shit to take but that wouldn't help when a so called "fellow wheeler" needs a battery so he could enjoy his fawkin weekend. :mad3:
that sucks to hear. ive been towing for 4 years now and never seem to have a problem. i rarely park at the bottom and my tow rig is old so maybe im lucky.
We did put in a report to the Sheriff's dept. We were the last ones out of the lot on Sunday night. Hey anyway, just wanted to post to remind everyone that maybe we're not as much of a tight small community of wheelers as we'd like to think! But I'd still like to think so....
So sorry to hear this crap:mad3: We came out around 4:30 and I noticed the car but didn't pay much attention. It's very common to see cars parked there.
People need to leave stuff alone if it's not theirs:mad3:
Anyone from the FOTR trail patrol willing to do Sunday or weekend night coverage at the Dam??
That is what it is going to take here. We need to step up and bust some idiots. It could be ANYBODY doing this from valley thugs to e-nazis to a desparate fool. I doubt the Sherrif will be of any help in patrolling.

That would be a fun job I would do it. But if we catch someon what can or should we do. If the sherrif isnt around it may be hard to see justice. Hopefully the law will just give me permision to hit the theif over the head with my 3ft maglite
well before it comes out, i had a dead battery that weekend. but everyone there knows it wasnt me. and even if i needed a battery i woulda hiked to my tow rig and snagged my own battery.
That sucks, I hate to hear about that stuff too. Heck it would have been cheaper for the poor guy if they would have busted his window and just unlatched the hood.

thats easy, bury them... well i guess since digging a 6 foot hole in granite would be difficult, i would just drag the body into the forest and let the critters take care of the rest.
:mad3: Fawking sucks!! On a side note, my fiance's car just got the window, center console, etc busted for afreaking $50 cd player. The fawking window cost six times that. WOuld love to just sit around and wait for a bastard like that to show up
