Last night's talk
Well, a few of us talked last night, but without knowing what took place at the Nov. meeting, it is hard. We all now know that the Gatekeeper (aka, Rookie Filter, just what we like to call it) is now old news. At least in the thought of doing something different besides blowing up the rock which in turn damaged the trees. We did talk about the Oct. meeting and the Little Sluice. We don't know what was discussed at the Nov. meeting, but in Oct. in was discussed that rock bolting could take place and blasting of the big boulders could also take place. We can understand the rock bolting, but why blasting the big boulders? We know that they came off the cliff side, so blast them to remove because they are not original rocks? Could they have ended up there over time anyhow? It was also mentioned that the 2 wheel drive buggies could no longer get through the trail. Is this the reason to blast the boulders in the Little Sluice? If so, why, there seems to be plenty of ways around the Little Sluice where 2 wheel drive buggies could go and still enjoy the trail. Plus, over time, mother nature changes the earth. Being able to drive the trail in 2 wheel drive one year, and not another year, could be the result of one harsh winter. Does that mean we need to go out and blast the hell out of mother nature, just to make it fit our needs? Aren't we supposed to let mother nature run her course while using the trail? We are just trying to figure out why blasting in the Little Sluice needs to take place at all. There seems to be plenty of bypass areas around it. I'm going to go back through the history of the mins. and see if I can find a reason, but Oct. offers no reason.
