For those who think they are above the law, and those who think they are too good to listen. STAY OFF THE TRAIL over MEM DAY, there have been tons of reports saying it is covered in snow and I have seen both sides for myself and agree!!!!!
It is LATE SPRING BREAKUP, you don't have a chance of making DUST so STAY OFF THE TRAIL!!!!!!!! Help preserve the trail for the future, help FOTR keep the fools off our backs!!!
Overcome your will and do what is best for ALL OF US instead of being selfish bafoons and only doing what is right for you!!!!!!! STAY OFF THE TRAIL!!!!!!
Don't like what I am saying???? To bad, no one else has stood up and said it so blatently, so I have stepped up to the plate!!!!!
The only thing I can really comment on here is the above the law statement. That is totally off base. The trail is not closed, so that means it is legal. I personally stay away now during the high melt period. I do find myself wanting to get in though because I want to see how water flow and other things are going. Being part of the planning process for work projects I feel it best to see it when it is happening. Balancing that with the need to stay off the trail during that time is tough.

I cannot agree more with ya Scott and there also has to be some Trail Patrol presence up there lord knows not everyone has a PC and not everyone visits the Pirate BB to get info
I can only hope that There are going to be real high flows thru the spillway at Loon lake that will keep out the masses over the weekend!!!!!!
COME ON SUN
I agree, this is why it should have been left alone. smaller tires make more damage in my opinion. not because of the size, but the person there with the small tires probably don't know what he's doing. and I don't mean the jeepers with the 31"s for all you geesers.:flipoff2: I think I am going to aim my group elsewhere. I think I may have to scout a few locations one of these nights in the cherokee.

Semantics, you are very aware of what my point is. It may not be against the law but there is the "right thing to do" and "the wrong thing to do". And it seems that if it serves someones personal wants or desires that it is ok to do the wrong thing.
Everyone says I am preaching to the choir, well folks if you are going up and planning on going anywhere past Ellis then YOU ALL KNOW BETTER. And IMHO are part of the problem. Going in to see is a lame excuse unless you do it on foot.
Just for the record I don't give a dern if you like what I say, it still has validity and I would challenge any of you to contest how true what I am saying is.
Comes down to being part of the problem or part of the solution. From a lot of the comments I can see where your loyalties lie. We can either volintarily do what is right or we will be forced into it. Have it your way. :shaking:
Hell yeah, walk in. Take pics and show the rest of us with itchy wheels why we should stay out. Plus who doesn't love to look at pics of the con from home? The only rocks I get to run over are called tourists.

HIPOCRITE: Middle English ipocrite, from Old French, from Late Latin hypocrita, from Greek hupocrits, actor, from hupokrnesthai, to play a part, pretend ; see hypocrisy
HYPOCRISY: 1. The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness. 2. An act or instance of such falseness.
Makes me wonder who we're dealing with. I get so confused. :shaking: Starting to wonder why I keep reading this cr@p.

Did you bother to read what he said? As in, he would like to go but is going to stay away? What have you done to help the trail? I would like to go to the Rubicon this wekend too, especially because I think it would be fun with the water but I convinced all my friends to go somewhere else after I was reading this forum. If you dont want to deal with this crap then dont bother and pretty soon we wont be able to go any time of the year.
You know what stinks, is the fact that people are well aware that they should stay off the trails, but choose to go anyway. I know of a few people that run with us sometimes that are determined to go this weekend. We were talking about Mem day plans and I said to one of them, "tell me you are not planning on going to Rubicon". His reply..."Hell yeah Im going, I've gone on Mem Day every year for the past 8 yrs".
Makes me want to NOT have them to run with us anymore:mad3:

I do not care to go during any holiday weekends. I much perfer to go during the middle of the week when there is nobody else out there. And I have indeed participated on a couple of work weekends, and plan to go at least once this year. Makes it nice to contrubute to the trail while enjoying the trail, all in one shot.
You know this has become a DEAD HORSE. EVery single year, for the last 6 or 7 this has been brought up. Everyone freaks out, talks about not going, warns others not to go.... What happens? The trail is packed and full of idots! Every year. This issue is like smoking, it won't hurt you right away so you think I'll keep doing it. My point is that every year there is issues, damage to the trail and now the cancer (Eldorado Management Trail Plan) (What ever it's name is) has infected us(the wheeling community). Soon the con probably will be closed during Memorial day.. etc etc... Bottom line is. If you go and eventually the trail is closed on Memorial day, you have no one to blame but yourself!!:mad3: If you have to go camping that bad, pack up the tow rig and family and go to a pay camp ground. Wait until the snow is done melting and the water is done running high!!
Me? I will be home this weekend BBQ'n!
I don't want to be apart of the problem anymore. I went on this weekend for enough years! I'm done!!:smokin:
Yesterday I was running around with my buggy on the trailer matching up radiator hoses at auto parts stores, stopping by Central to talk to Garbageman to pic up my winch rope and having some aluminum work done by T&T in Rancho. During every stop I had a number of people come up to me asking if I was going to the Con because they were. And the more I talked to people the more I found out there are a shiat load of people heading up. Unfortunately even some of my good friends are already up there this weekend also. Maybe we all should be up there getting some wheeling while we can because there are too many who are not worried about the long run and soon we will not have the option to go wheel the Con or any Sierra trails anymore.
