If you have not been to this link yet to read the proposed grant submitted by the Rubicon Trail Foundation, then please take a moment to do so. See below for a summary of our FOTR projects (that we put in the grant also). This is a huge step for the Foundation (legally they can put in for grants with our OHV Commission because they are a 501.c.3 non-profit organization).

We can thank Randy Burleson for leading the effort to get this baby done and in the works. Writing a grant is a huge amount of time-consuming work, and Randy made us proud here.

We're talking almost $50,000 worth of Rubicon Trail help here if we get it passed. So read the link and submit your supportive comments so we can build a case for this grant.
thanks, Del

In addition to annual cleanups and law enforcement/VIP Tours, the following list details the largest projects – for each item
listed, there are smaller projects which are cumulatively just as vital. Through these and other projects, FOTR has performed
many thousands of hours of volunteer work on the ground and FOTR has tracked it for use by Placer and El Dorado counties
for funds-matching.

Moved 1800 tons of crushed rock to nearly 50 drainage features near the Placer County end of the trail to prevent
sediment from reaching Lake Tahoe

• 2002 Trail Reroute away from Pleasant Lake
Rerouted the Loon-Ellis section of the Rubicon Trail away from Pleasant Lake, preventing mud in the spring and dust in
the fall (cooperative effort with Eldorado National Forest, El Dorado County, and private property owners)

• 2003 Walker Hill Erosion Mitigation
Assisted in first high-definition GPS survey of the Rubicon Trail (cooperative effort with El Dorado County and private
property owners)

Placed logs/rock ramp and installed multiple other drainage features to prevent erosion (cooperative effort with El Dorado

• 2003 Little Sluice Bypass Concrete Stabilization
Poured concrete at the base of the bypass to stabilize the trail and prevent roll-overs; placed natural rocks in the concrete
to retain natural look (cooperative effort with private property owners)

• 2004 Wentworth Springs Erosion Mitigation
Installed water bars to get water off the trail before erosion could take place (cooperative effort with El Dorado County)

• 2004 Rerouted Trail around Swamp near Rubicon Springs
Partially rerouted the trail to higher ground and cobbled the approaches to the higher ground to prevent erosion
(cooperative effort with El Dorado County and private property owners)

• 2004 Miller Creek Returned to Banks
Cleared Miller Creek of debris and rebuilt the banks to prevent the creek from flooding the trail and creating a swamp
(cooperative effort with Eldorado National Forest, Tahoe National Forest, El Dorado County, Placer County and private
property owners)

• 2003/2004 Gatekeeper Repair
Poured concrete, repaired drainage, and blocked bypasses to repair trail damage and keep users on the trail at
Gatekeeper (cooperative effort with Eldorado National Forest and El Dorado County)

• 2002/2003/2006 Trailside Tree Signage
Placed highly visible yellow signs in trees along the trail to help keep users on the trail (cooperative effort with Eldorado
National Forest and El Dorado County)

• 2004-2006 Rubicon Trail Patrol
Trained in cooperation with the Sherriff’s office and Forest enforcement, the volunteer trail patrol focuses on informational
contacts an visibility, and provides backup to Sheriffs and Forest Protection Officers on the trail (cooperative effort with
Eldorado National Forest and El Dorado County)

• 2005-2006 Granite Trail Signage
Epoxied highly visible reflectorized pavement markers to the granite along the trail to help keep users on the trail
(cooperative effort with Eldorado National Forest, El Dorado County, and private property owners)

• 2003-2006 Kiosk Move, Repair, and Staffing
Worked with Eldorado National Forest to move an old water meter building to the base of the Loon Lake Dam as an
