Are the beaver trees on the path from main camp to the stone cabin?

Think beaver standing on 6 feet of snow.

Well past time to dust this thread off...

Doug did a great write-up a while back on The 'Other' Rubicon: Side Trails: http://www.cal4wheel.com/feature-sto...on-side-trails

I dirtbiked past a couple of these for the last work weekend, and will be returning to collect some views from the tops of Noonchester Mine road (14N34A) and Buck Lake Trail (14N40). The lookout from Ellis Peak is worth a visit, as well (take a map so that you can pick out the peaks all around you!). Down closer to Rubicon Springs, there's the Long Lake Trail, as well.

I haven't been out from Rubicon through Blackwood Canyon to Barker Pass in a while, and I think the Hobbit Trail will work better on two wheels than four!

There's plenty of good stuff on Rubicon, and even more right next to it!

So no guesses yet on the location of the picture in post 210? The foreground should narrow it down to a handful of places, and the background peaks should help you select from there...

Yup -- you guys got it. I figured that was an easy one, since it is less than 50' off the trail. I've attached a closer view of the Williams brothers' plaque. I don't know about life after death or any such stuff, but if these boys are hanging out around their plaque, they've got a great view of the Rubicon Valley -- personally, I think that qualifies as 'Heaven.'

I can't sneak ANYTHING past you, Scott. Nice work!

For everyone else, that picture is taken from directly down-slope of Cadillac Hill, looking up. The trail runs from lower left to upper right, and those lighter rocks are on the outside of the trail -- you're just used to seeing them from the top. The give-away was the young, light granite on the face of the outcropping that you can see as you drive up Cadillac Hill to the left.
