campfire (and other forest information) can be found on the El Dorado National Forest Web site.
http://www.r5.fs.fed.us/eldorado/ This page has updates regularly http://www.r5.fs.fed.us/eldorado/news/recreate.htm I don't see any fire restrictions at this time but don't take my word on it ![]() When you drive in there are always signs posted, and there are several Forest Information offices where you can stop in and ask. If you are not camping in an approved site with a metal campfire ring (read Pay campsite) you need a campfire permit, even if you do not have a campfire and only have a stove. You can get a permit at BLM field offices and forest service ranger stations and they do not cost anything. edit: here is a link to the campfire permit page. http://www.r5.fs.fed.us/eldorado/vis...ermit_fire.htm
