Community Service
Wha's it take to get community service volunteers engaged? Litter cleanup at Little Sluice, rocks moved along the trail, etc...
We had some of that last year on the Tahoe-side FOTR efforts.. was that arranged by the county or by someone from our ranks? I'd really like to see loser #1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...threadid=61854 and loser #2 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...threadid=69100 out there picking up beer cans. Preferably when it is 100 degrees out. They could also serve some of their time as human signposts (like those folks on the sidewalk at busy intersections with signs to the latest housing development) -- posted on the slabs with signs toward the outhouses... What's involved in offering to supervise such service? If we make this option available to the courts, would they provide us volunteers? Del, can you ask this at the next ROC meeting? Randii

I believe you are right, Dan...
So that opens up this thread into two questions: 1.) how do we get inmate labor set up on the Placer side? 2.) how do we get community service set up on either side? Randii |

Placer County arranged for the inmate labor (Trustees) from the Sheriff's office to do a lot of the work moving rocks along side FOTR folks last summer. If we have a project on their side, they get em for us. The Sheriff has to supervise them. No biggie.
As to Community Service, well I'm not sure. Again, I suppose it would be the Sheriff (county jail) that would supervise them if we had a project. Del

What about El Dorado County? Most of the trail is actually in ED Co. I am sure there are lawbreakers over there too. Del, Do you have a good communication line to the trustee department??

Yes I do have a LE contact with Eldo county now, with the ROC committee. I'll see what develops on this.
