Yes...I keep it updated....I just needed a thread for 2009.
If you all could follow some simple rules...it will really help me and most importantly everyone else. Tell me: Name of group Dates How many rigs...(a good guess or range is fine!) Where/direction (ie: Loon to Springs and back or Tahoe to Loon) How this helps is it gives people an idea are they facing 8 rigs...or 100.

Trail Closed...
Why does this happen every year at this time? The event calender is posted and the Jamborees dates say that the trail is closed, when in fact it is not? Being somewhat of a local and having the benefit of having one of the greatest trails of the world in my backyard, I am able to frequent the 'Con at my leisure. But if someone is planning their trip and see this post of the trail being closed, then comes a buttload of posts of, "Is the trail closed for such and such?"; "Why is the trail closed...". Then you have the subsuquent posts saying that the trail is not actulally closed, but there is an event going on that is larger than life. Why not just tell people that inquire that the trail is actually not closed, but there is an deluge of enthusiasts (some newbs), and when you get a large number of rigs on a trail that is in general single file, it takes a long time to go from the damn dam to the springs, given inexperience, breakdown, and a general mass of rigs. Just post that the trail is ALWAYS open and never closed. Just expect a lot of people and huge delays on the trail.

The trail is closed during the Jeepers Jamboree. JJ USA has parade permit ( I believe is the exact reason) for exclusive use.

Trail Closed...
You know the trail is never closed. The parade permit BS is just governmental crap, because this is a "county road". I am sure Eldo county has something in it's constitution that says "anymore than blah blah blah vehicles on any county road needs said parade permit". Right? Jamborees always follow the rules to a "T". (Not that there is anything wrong with that). You are just posting what they tell you to post. Am I correct with that, sir?

All I am saying is that the trail is not closed...you should just warn other users that there will be an abundunce of trail users, more than usual, and the trail is still open, not closed. I have ran the trail a few times during these "parades", and have still found the trail open to my use, even though I was not part of the jamboree.

I always though a Parade Permit meant absolute closure except for the participants. Don't poach, pay or stay home!

You can find this:
Quote:
This is a real road closure and a real permit. It is enforced consistently by Jeepers Jamboree and by the EL Dorado County Sheriffs Department (yes, Jamboree pays their salaries). I have seen MANY parties trying to travel the trail sidelined and/or turned around until the closure/permit times are over. Also keep in mind that though there isn't a closure on the Placer County side, Jamboree rents the entire Rubicon Springs property for the event and posts monitors on the road to keep non-paying folks out. If you've been there during Jamboree, I'm quite sure you didn't travel through the springs during the event or on the trail at the same time as participants.

Would you drive your car past a roadblock during the Thanksgiving Day Parade? By obtaining a parade permit, they are in essence closing the trail to non-participants. Which is legal. We may not like it, but it's legal, and they've been doing it for 30+years (IIRC). Aren't over 1/2 the folks at Jambo newbies anyway? Why would you want to be stuck in line behind 100s, if not 1000s of inexperienced wheelers? |

You can travel the road, just between 12 and 6 AM That is what, only a few days of the year. I used to stay away from the trail during July altogether. I ran many other trails that month over the years. I only recently started attending Jamboree. It is fun. Scott

State of Jefferson 4x4 should be out with a few rigs (7?) on June 19 through the 21st or so. We'll be going from Loon to Tahoe. I know this is Rubithon time. Do they close the trail (or have a parade permit) for that also? I also know of some Unimog dudes that are gonna be out at the same time but I don't really know their schedule.
