edit: while I understand the sentiment, we still need to keep this forum clean. Language people, we have not had a need until recently to go over this again. Last edited by cruzila; 06-26-2009 at 06:14 AM. |

With the title, I was going to point you to the tenderloin district in SF.
You need to post more details. WHERE was it taken, what kind of vehicle, what day. Oh, and instead of saying there "could" be a reward , you should just make up your mind right now.Good luck. Hope you catch the thief. |

How in the hell does one steal a driveshaft on the trail? Is it just like the over zealous assface that runs into the side of your rig cuz the trail is blocked by a wounded jeep!

![]() This is why I asked him about place/time. I have a feeling it wasn't a quick opportunity thing. Most likely the rig was left overnight somewhere. I do wonder where, though... |

This is prolly the guy with the IFS mini that was left at the big rock before the split to old sluice/slabs. You know thw one where you gotta do a three point to get around it. The rig was left so as you had to put your stinger right up against the side in order to make the 3 point. I ran into a fella in a formula toy at buck that asked bout the rig. I said as of Wed mornin g it was there and intact but would have some damage to the drivers side by end of day due to people makin the turn. It apparently blew front diff and was parked. It was gone when we left saturday. I saw the same guy in formula toy at loon and he said that they got the mini but someone stole the d-line and put some shit in radiator or something that fubared it. He also said they stole all the gas outa the thing.
To those who screwed around with the guys rig, KARMA is a b*&^%, and you will get whats comin to ya. For the guy whom left his truck, just wanna say that it sucks what happened and hope you got out o.k., people can be messed up but there was alot of good people there too.

That was my truck at the big rock. Sorry I could not find a better spot to move it out of the way better. I do know that there are alot of good people on the trail. I was able to get it out ok with a little help from some good people with extra parts and a welder. These people also set a fire starter on top of the radiator to try and light it on fire. That could have potentially started the forest on fire and maybe even injured myself, family or friends. No cool or funny. Thanks for keeping an ear out for me.

More details would be nice. Vague references to those guys etc. are hard to follow. There are many big rocks, trees, bushes on the trail.

Anti-Rubicon wackos frequent this area on foot. I wouldn't necessarily blame other off-roaders if you don't know who did it.
My family and friends have been the victims of environmentalist vandalism before, with sabotaged 4x4's and tractors - on our own private property in Eldorado National Forest! Slashed tires and handfuls of dirt in the crankcase aren't beyond these extremists, so firestarter is certainly within their realm of terrorism.

Rock
Hey peesalot What Up? This is the rock. We were there on Friday the 19th @ 2-3 pm. When we got there these guys in the picture were trying to hook a strap to the big rock to straighten their steering. Well they came up short and were blocking the trail because we can't fit to well through the V notch so we let them use the Scout as an anchor. The blue Toyota was there to the right just out of range to of the camera. They bent the Tie rod and then moved out of the way to let us pass. If anyone knows who the Toyota in the picture they might have more info. The Toyota in the picture was on a Ford frame with Ford running gear. Mark

I think that guy was the help cause the fella I seen at loon said they used a ford 2 piece drive shaft to replace the stolen unit. Makes sense that guy was the rescue crew.

They were nice guy's. I just wonderd if they saw any other people hanging around because they were there for a while. We chatted with them when they came through at Buck with it fixed, someone with a welder helped them and they used the old high lift jack handle trick.

Yeah, I am not aware of a name for this spot either, but heading to Buck, on the left hand side of the trail, there is a bronze memorial plaque (I think it is, anyway). Skorchs' pic is from the "Buckside". This one is heading towards Buck.

That has traditionally been called "Arnold's Rock" by Jamboree folks going back 40 years or more.
VERY dissapointed to hear about the vandalism/theft. Karma IS a bitch.
