For the Scout crowd.
We passed this Scout in a small group before Little Sluice.

And one more, for those that like the old tree (closet tree huggers maybe?) and the Little Sluice (Box).

Notice the well set up hard core rigs. Stock suspensions, gears, engines, and open diffs. All ridin' on massive 11 x 15 (32") Armstrong True-Tracs.

Hah! Those are great. Especially since they're current, and show the old boys still truckin'

I got your old school, right here...
Same trip. Summer '75
Jeep was doing ok until he slipped backward on this slick bit of rock that everyone loves right near the dam. Anchored himself on a trailer hitch tongue, but good.
Had to winch off.

These good ole boys in a pair of buggies were workin' it hard to get through anything larger than a lunchbox. But they made it.
All it took was a heavy right foot, a quick clutch-foot, and proper application of the old Firestone-n-Gates combo. Oh, and good skid plates. The old "bounce it till it gets over" school of thought.

The next day we pushed one of them up Cadillac hill. Yep, pushed.
That wasn't easy, but it was rewarding to get to a point they could continue. We were rewarded with some champagne they had brought with them. With that kind of beverage in the coolers, we just knew these guys really knew how to run a trail with style!

Had to throw this one in there too.
Notice the guy that came up behind us in the (probably) then brand new Renegade.

We let him pass us, as he was alone and making pretty good time.
This from the next year. July 4th weekend '76. (edit: sorry, it was Memorial Day Weekend)
If I remember, he was literally the only other person we saw actually wheeling on the trail! The only others we saw were just camping near the trail.

That's them in the background along side the Little Sluice.
