As Rusty stated in the release...some work to be done on the route...I've walked it several times and there's some key parts that need some work to make it a safe, sustainable route to the main camping area.

If you want more info on the property or want to stay posted, you can find that info here.

Wow...haven't been on pirate in years. Congrats to all who were behind this. I may have disappeared, but my heart still is somewhere on that trail.

I was responding in the other thread about RTF board member responsibilities. It reminded me of the prioritization of time spent composing the attached Quote.

Further, I have spoken in and out of this thread about the liabilities of property ownership and my concerns with diluting the primary (education) mission of RTF with the liabilities of this property.

Above, Rusty posted a vague, but effective and professional press release, likely approved by others, or possibly the RTF board as a whole. The problem starts when Ken spent the time to clarify what RUSTY didn't say.

Ken, has now wrapped the mother of all liability chokeholds around RTF's neck by publicly suggesting that RTF, as an entity, has chosen an unsafe route into the property. No amount of engineering work or waivers of liability will ever mitigate Ken's knowledge and substantial trail experience in this matter. In other words, one accident, this thread and the comments WILL be found, and it will all be over - that fast.

On another note, what were the final deal points in the land exchange? Specifically, did members of RTP profit (as they should have) in gross, on the land swap, and did RTP end up placing use restrictions on RTF land?

Since RTF had the time to "use" Pirate to go after RTP interests, I would have to believe a full disclosure of the final deal points would be reasonably wise.

Dammit, I'm getting more confused the more info is provided. Since this is a current pic, I am going to assume this isn't the aborted prescriptive easement effort and reflects the result of the land swap that is still cloaked in mystery.

Mike, I can't read the damn sign. Computer resolution or my visual acuity likely at fault.
What the heck does it say?

Thanks, Dale

Dale...it basically says...Please follow the yellow reflectors, stay on the route. If the gate is up, the property is closed.

Nothing confusing about the route...RTP and RTF agreed on the route.

Any updates on this? With the trail becoming less challenging as the years go by this sure seems like a great place to break some virgin trails and introduce some hard core element. What better way to give back something of whats been lost to the community.

Any thoughts to a "Rock Course" kinda thing? Maybe could even hold some competitions down there. The possibilities are endless. I'm sure you guys are open to the input of the folks who have donated over the years.

This is all very exciting, I can't wait to see how it goes.

Thanks again
